The difference between us and Louisville is big.  Not surprising this year.  We have overachieved so far and had a soft conference schedule.  A few boos here in New Orleans by at the ESPN studio as the game has been on....fans wanting something else because this is such a spank job.

Off to the SB, going to assume down 23 we aren't coming back with 12 minutes to go.  Go Warriors...get them next time.

Hey! Look at me!! I'm at the Super Bowl! Here in New Orleans!

Dude, you've gone off message.  Don't ridicule him for saying he's going to the Super Bowl, ridicule him because he's a long time poster who therefore must assume that he knows more than the new posters.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Everyone please keep this conversation on topic.

WE GOT EMBARRASSED ON NATIONAL TELEVISION! AGAIN!

We got embarrassed in Green Bay on a game that wasn't on TV. Did that make you feel better?

We beat Miss State, USC, LSU, UConn, Pitt and USF on national TV. Why didn't you use all caps and 20-point "JAPAN BOMBS PEARL HARBOR" font size on those?

In the NCAAs last year, we beat Murray State on national TV and lost to Florida on national TV. Was the win because it was on national TV and did we lose because it was on national TV?

If we go to the national championship game and lose by one point in five OTs, will we have lost because it was on national TV?

Au contraire.  PTM prevented the silliest thread.

That was the point.  Which many missed.

So what constitues National TV according to this board

If we lose a game by more than 20 points; regardless if it was on ESPN or Fox Sports Central Bolivia 2 it is national TV

If Marquette loses to a good team on the road and gives a valiant effort the game was not on National TV

If Marquette wins a game regardless if it is CBS or the Sunshine Network was never on national tv

As a sarcastic wise-a$$ myself, I am embarrassed if I missed the sarcasm. Wouldn't be the first time something's gone over my bald head.

Still, all the points I tried to make are valid for those who actually do think that the mere act of being on national TV has anything to do with wins and losses.

Must be pretty good on national television to get to the Sweet 16 in the past two seasons.
Bad game, but just one game.
I can easily forget if Marquette wins next two games. Avoiding the 'what the hell happened' conference loss like Georgetown at South Florida and Villanova hosting Providence is the reason Marquette is at the top of the conf. standings.

Good point Garbier.   This game was not on anybody's 'win' list.   We lost, nobody got hurt, on to Tampa.

The entire probelm with threads like this is that once upon a time someone posted something to the effect of  "We always lay an egg on national television" instead of "We lay a lot of eggs on national television".

The threads become silly because some people miss (or intentionally ignore) the hyperbole of the comment, and attempt to lock the discussion into the silliness of the improper use of the term "always" or nitpciking over what network constitutes "nationally" televised.  The purpose is to lock out any discussion of the underlying truth.

Unfortunately, its that truth to the original comment (e.g. Florida, Green Bay, Louisville) that cause some people read PTM's attempt at satire and take it seriously.

I don't think a single person here would argue that we've been embarassed by our performance in every nationally televised game over the past few years. At the same time, nobody can deny that we have been embarassed a number of times over the past two or three years.

Are there many teams that haven't had some embarrassing performances over the past two or three years?

Also remember that the National televised games that we remember are games that are always on the road as most of us are usually at the national televised games that are home games.

FWIW, our record on national TV this year is 7-4. Wins are: Miss St, USC, Wisconsin, LSU, UConn, Pitt, USF,

🏀

Well, I think this thread worked out for the most part.

1.) Hopefully prevented MU Avenue from posting it.
2.) Only about 1/3rd of the responses didn't get it.
3.) Homer posted!

Sarcasm was intended. Congrats if you got it.

I think the round of 64 and 32 are regionalized, so the round of 16 is the first trulynNationally televised game and therefore where we get knocked out....... ;)
