They are still better than you at basketball.  Saw this on Brian Scalabrine.  He was a human cigar for much of his career in the NBA.  A radio station in Boston had a contest for the best rec players to play him one-on-one.

Here's an article on the results.

And while college players might not be the same level of Brian Scalabrine, they are still night and day better than us.

What is your point?  Only Dwayne Wade can bash college players?

lurch91

Nope, point is that when many claim that Lockett is disappointing because he has hit more than .300 of his three's, he's still one of the best players MU has.  Could be Lockett hit over .400 of his three's at ASU because the PAC12 sucked last year and the BEast is that good defensively this year.

I heard the Scalabrine interview the other day.  It was funny.  I get your point, try not to smash college players but it slips now and again.  However, not sure I ultimately follow the logic.  Does this logic apply for our elected leaders as well?  Decisions our bosses might make?  Etc, etc?  Just because someone is in a position we are not, doesn't mean they are beyond critique.  It's all in how you do it, IMO.

Lockett is being compared to himself last year and that is where the disappointment comes from.  Many were hoping he would have similar numbers to last season.

that was the best Boston has to offer? wow!.   Three balding 40 yr olds?

The better players were likely wiser players.   ;)
All this talk of rights.  So little talk of responsibilities.

There is a difference between "bashing" players and not always saying positive things about every aspect of every player's game.

NOT BASHING: Lockett isn't the greatest athlete and hasn't scored as much as I thought he would when I heard he would be transferring to MU, but his game is growing on me and I'm glad we have him.

BASHING: Lockett is garbage.

In general, most Scoopers aren't bashers. A few are, of course. And every once in awhile, somebody who isn't a basher, says something "bashy" out of frustration. We're fans. The players aren't perfect, and neither are we!

i don't think i've seen anyone "bash" lockett.  i've never seen anyone type that he is a bad kid, doesn't work hard, etc.  i have questioned how a senior can foul a 3 point shooter at the end of the game, and it continues to bother me that he does simple things like turn his back to the ball, or lose sight of the person he's guarding.

you're logic is very odd as i would then think buzz shouldn't ever question his players either as he was never much of a player...and my lord, jordan better start ripping on the bobcats (and every other player in the world) very soon.

Mufflers

I doubt any poster thought he was a better basketball player than any of the Marquette players prior to watching the video.  I don't think this video teaches anything.  Marquette players are judged based on their ability to be good/very good Big East caliber players.  I don't care how good the Marquette players are on my garage hoop.

Yep, haha.  One was a balding 19 year old.

I would always be amazed watching Dan Gadzurich live during warm-ups. Probably the worst guy in the at one point but he was still amazingly skilled. For as tall as he was, he could move and had a sick stroke from 3-point land during warm-ups.

One thing I could never understood is the lack of three point skill. The college 3 should be a gimme. I am horrible and probably played 2 times in the last year, but yet I nailed 3 straight 3-pointers to seal a game versus a friend. Just can't understand how these college guys can miss wide-open 3's when they practice everyday of their lives.

Playing in front of 15 k people might have something to do with it, plus timing is accelerated in live ball than shoot around.  I don't know how much your friend got in your line of sight/ affected your trajectory.

I'm not talking hand in the face, but WIDE-OPEN 3's. Its just amazes me a guard shooting sub 30 at that level with the amount of practice and skill they have.

Try sprinting full court to play defense, then run around on the offensive end for about 20 seconds, and then shoot a three.  After you make one, try sprinting and running around for about another 2 minutes in between each shoot and see how you do.

Hmmmm... not sure if serious...

Thanks Erick, I just didn't have the energy to put full sentences together to make that point.  Maybe Marty should try out for the team, I hear you can make a lot of money if you never miss a 3 pointer.  Au-to-ma-tic??

Same thing with free throws.  I see professional players miss free throws all the time, but just the other day I went out to my driveway and nailed a free throw.

Yeah, and I dribbled a ball 5 straight times without kicking it out of bounds.

Hey, I'll whip Brian Scalabrine's butt.....in a game to 5 or 10. I got game. But if he wants to play a game involving conditioning, I QUIT!! I know some of you feel the same way
