Jason Wilbon wrote this article for Washington Post.

The Star Press's (Muncie) Zaleski had this response.

It looks like Wilbon should have got off John Thompson's lap and done a better job checking his facts. It always seemed that John Thompson knew how to stir the pot.

Jason Whitlock was filling in for Jim Rome yesterday.  He pretty much agreed with the Muncie response.  He said the Thompsons are making ridiculous claims, and that he's surprised Wilbon fell for it.  Whitlock is usually pretty blunt, and he was again yesterday while discussing this.  Of course he has a personal interest in this story as well, as he is an ex Ball State football player.

Not a good situation.

For the record it is Michael Wilbon not Jason Wilbon

Wilbon and the elder Thompson have always been connected at the hip for one reason or another. Whenever JT wants something in the paper, one call to Wilbon does it. How's Mary Fenlon doing, anyway?

This is BS.  Everyone in my immediate family graduated from Ball State.  One of their most beloved players and and former coaches (left for Houston) is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ray_McCallum, who is African-American.  It's like when columnists in Chicago were calling Cub fans racist, even though their two most popular players are Derrek Lee and Carlos Zambrano.

I'm sure Acker is happy that he left and didn't have to deal with all the turmoil. Does anyone know of Ronnie Thompson's reputation prior to this?
