So PTM, since you know it all, what will the real NFL investigators find out, that we all don't know about. Since, after all, you seem to have the great insight into this case and have assured yourself that a person you have never met is "a piece of crap and deserves everything he gets."

His draft position will change when the NFL teams hire real investigators to do real investigations, unlike Notre Dame.

And if they prove he is crazy, does it go up or down?

Since he already admitted to lying and tailoring his story for the media, that's a good jumping point for the NFL investigators. They will be thorough, Norm. They always are.

His draft status was hurt more by his performance in the NCG than anything having to do with his fake dead girlfriend. If he had "played like a champion" in the Bama game, he could have killed his actual girlfriend and he still would have gone in the top 5. Some fans will likely spin this story into being the reason he slides in the draft but the truth is, he's not nearly as good as his hype.

If he has questionable character, down. He's not going to be a stellar linebacker. He's too small with questionable speed. 4-3 teams will look at him for middle play between the hashes.

His character and leadership were his highest traits. Those were currently out the window.

For the record, I hate ND football...

but it's sports, not real life. I don't actually hate athletes, coaches, actors, or singers because I don't actually know them. I certainly hope my alma mater can show some perspective and class by not throwing proverbial feces at the latest celebrity we've decided to collectively hate and shame. Besides, there will just be a new one next week.

You don't hate them because you don't know them, just like Manti T'eo didn't know his fake girlfriend.

There is absolutely no doubt that T'eo's draft status has already declined due to this, and it will only continue to do so as more evidence comes out/it becomes more clear just how ridiculous of a human being Manti T'eo is.

I mean, the guy was so distraught over the death of someone he loved (even though he didn't know it, but she was fake), that he was dating another girl within weeks of her death.  Now THAT is true love, people.

There's a lot of former GMs out there saying he has to have great answers at the combine to make up for the scandal and lackluster performance.

I agree that Alabama will hurt him more.

I do agree with this, though.

His draft status may drop, though it may drop just based on his play on the big stage of Alabama as well.  Will we ever know what is the reason?  The draft if an inexact science anyway...Aaron Rodgers vs Alex Smith?

So we'll never truly know.

As for someone that is dating another person in a few weeks, hardly the first time or the last time that will ever happen.  Especially if it is a long distance relationship.  Look how many people "love" someone and cheat on them, but still love them.

I hope the Bears are stupid and draft him at 20. He will be available.

But do they "dedicate their (undefeated) season" to them?  It was a cute storyline and Manti knew it and made it known to everyone he possibly could.  Too bad it was a fake story and now even more people know.

ChicosBailBonds

Wouldn't be surprised to see him go anywhere from 15 to 35.  Depends on if teams are drafting on need or best player.

It's one thing to get scammed.

It's another thing to scam the entire college football audience for your own personal gain.

Before the girlfriend incident, where was he projected?  I've read somewhere between 10 and 12.  So if he goes near 15 to 20, is that really a "drop"  this is a highly inexact process.

I don't get all the love for the kid.  He was a good college linebacker, but I just don't see his skills and speed translating that well to the pro game.  He is not of ideal size either.  I don't know, I just don't see it.  I'm probably wrong though.

OK, let's pretend that T'eo had no idea he was being duped.  Let's pretend he really believed he was talking to a real girl and he really believed that she died of lukemia the same day that his grandmother died.  Let's then read this article:

http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/8854472/teammate-manti-teo-says-player-played-girlfriend-angle

Does that make Manti T'eo worse than if he had participated in a story about a fake person who died?  The guy used the death of someone he believed to be a real person to increase his publicity.  He loved the spotlight, pointing himself out when he was on TV to his teammates and friends.  He, and his teammates, knew that the person (who they believed to be real) was not nearly T'eo's girlfriend, but T'eo saw an opportunity to look strong, took the story, and he ran with it.  He used the DEATH of somebody he believed to be a real person to put a bigger spotlight on himself.  That is sick.  Disgusting.  Sad.  Disturbing.

I had never read that article before, and one thing I find veerrrrryyyy interesting is near the end....

"Dan Tudesco, a 2006 graduate who now works in public relations in New York, set up an online account at fundraising website indiegogo.com on Jan. 9 to solicit $5,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Inc. The initial pitch said donations would go to the society in memory of Lennay Kekua and in honor of Te'o, "two individuals who have been an inspiration to us through an iconic season."

Tudesco said he and three friends got the fundraising idea after seeing a video that went viral of Te'o holding his head in dismay during the Irish's 42-14 loss to Alabama in the national championship game.

The goal was to turn the loss -- and the player's sudden popularity -- into something positive.

"I think we were all kind of disappointed in the result of the game ... and the Manti story was very inspirational," Tudesco told The Associated Press on Thursday.

Notre Dame took notice of Tudesco's tweets about the fund drive and sent a university videographer to shoot an interview with him. The video was posted on the Notre Dame athletics YouTube channel Tuesday.

Tudesco said he didn't believe Notre Dame was aware of the hoax when it promoted his fundraiser.

"It would surprise me that Notre Dame would want to promote this if they knew something like this was going on," Tudesco said.

However, Notre Dame officials said Wednesday that they became aware of the hoax on Dec. 26, nearly two weeks before the championship game. University spokesman Dennis Brown didn't immediately respond to a request seeking comment Thursday."

So, ND finds out about the hoax on Dec 26, then after the national championship game on Jan 7, sends out a university videographer to interview someone who are raising money for Te'o's fake dead girlfriend.  Why would they do that?

Living up to the ND arrogance stereotype, the admin didn't think that word of the fake girlfriend would ever get out.

Classless.

This idea is so unoriginal, uninspired and classless it's embarrassing. It also was never proposed by the Marquette marketing dept. they can't be that idiotic.

Can we please stop reinforcing the negative stereotype that Marquette is just "some school in Milwaukee." Let's act with some class and dignity.

If real Gramma dying got Te'o into a dead heat with Manzel and imaginary girlfriend dying put him over the top in Pete Thamel's mind it says a lot - about Pete Thamel.

No doubt. Thamel even backed it up with a little chuckle.

I was really surprised at how cavalier he was when he said that. Patrick didn't let up but he also didn't grill him on that. Thought it was a slip and would've loved more discussion on it.

You sound like a Dayton fan.

Marquette is just a school in Milwaukee. Middle of the road, nothing special. Sorry to burst your bubble. If anything, you need to stop reinforcing the negative stereotype that Marquette is 'full of braggarts and self-indulgent asshats'.
