Loved what I saw out of Jamil today. He started looking like a go to guy..several end of shot clock situations he had the ball and launched...had several 3's late in the 2nd half rattle in/out...hit great shot off of Lockett save.  Biggest plus was Jamil ASSERTED himself virtually the whole game.  The light bulb was on all game.  This continues....we could be in store for some good things this season.

Honorable mention to Vander Blue, and only Honorable Mention because he's been consistently good all season long....Jamil's been so up and down...but seems to have strung a couple of good games together...

Thought the same thing...was happy to see JWilson put together a solid entire game. Hopefully the fouls come down so he doesn't foul out of every game, but definitely seeing more consistency from him.

JWilson at the high post and DG at the low post has been working well.   He needs to stop committing dumb fouls.

Jamil could take that mid range jumper 20 times a game and I would never complain. It's his shot.
Lazar picking up where the BIG 3 left off....

+ 1, and take two open 3s and clean up a couple of times on the offensive glass.  10-12 points, 5 rebounds.

He also looked like a leader in the huddle before foul shots. Nice to see. Would have been nicer if he had told his teammates to defend the arc in the final 1.2 seconds of regulation, but it all worked out well.

Blue scores 22 and has a hell of a game, but he's only an honorable mention because Wilson somehow gets credit for showing up to play today, while Blue has been consistent all year? Great logic.

It's the same mentality as not voting a successful athlete to multiple MVPs - like Jordan in the 90s (Malone? really?). People get bored of consistently good (even if it's the best) and look for the "new" developments.

GGGG

Agreed Ners.  He needs to stop getting in foul trouble, but his re-emergence has been evident over the last few games.

CAGASS24

I don't know; you can say its a positive he's taking those shots; but he had two in the second half rattle out that could have finally extended the lead to seven or so that didn't hit, needs those to fall.  Also, still don't like his bonehead turnovers and the fact that he never Attempts to drive from the wing.   At 6 7, he could be a monster if he could put the ball on the floor effectively.  He's got the size and athletecism, and thought spending last year strictly On the inside would make him toughs as nails, just not seeing it 100% of the time.  Hopefully he continues to improve

We R Final Four

I'm so thrilled that the refs have all gotten together and agreed that whatever JWill does when he has the ball.........it's not traveling. So, anything after the travel  is gravy.

God - I wasn't picking on Vander at all...said he's been consistently good all year..which is a high compliment...Blue had a great game...yet he's had lots of very good-great games this year.  Jamil, however  is a big key to this team, and has been largely invisible in many games and MU desperately needs him to assert himself..and the last few games have been encouraging...thus an exciting takeaway from yesterday's game.

Wilson was a monster. His contributions were so timely, too, whether it was the jumper to go up by five with 6:21 to play, taking the charge on the ensuing defensive possession, making a great pass to Gardner underneath in OT, or hitting a really difficult runner in OT. His upside is almost limitless. Really excited to see where this kid ends up at the end of the year.

The refs were not watching for traveling at all in the Pitt game. The Pitt bigs travel several times and were never called for it.

Stretchdeltsig

Jamil is a tremendously gifted athlete who seems to play better under pressure against better competition.  When he's involved int he game, Marquette wins.  Somehow, Buzz or Junior or Derick need to make sure that they have Jamil turned on!  This is a another really good MU team that's fun to watch and should go far in the tournament.

GGGG

Jamil plays better in our slower paced games.  NC Central notwithstanding.

Jamil seems to travel as soon as receives the ball.

Da 'Lanche

I was encouraged by Jamil as well, but, even beyond that, I found myself encouraged that EVERYONE seems to be getting better as the year plays out....that is a food sign...players developing as we hit our stride in conference play.  A couple cases in point...Juan Anderson, a steady glue guy who is always hustling and doing the little things that make a difference, was hitting 3s, confident with the top of key jumper and really had a hard nose for the ball.   Chris Otule starting to maybe get stronger off the injury and is showing signs of an effective game on the offensive end around the hoop...also matches up well on defense and rebounding against opposing bigs.   Great team defense....where did this newfound zone come from?   I loved it.   Steve Taylor jr continues to evolve and contributes meaningful minutes and our platoon (if that is what it is) at point is getting more reliable.  Lockett also seems to be getting more effective on both ends.

But, back to Jamil...agree 100 percent.   Should be a fun couple of months!
