While MU may get a ton of money from a network other than ESPN, I don't care all that much. What I do care about is being able to watch the games live from wherever I am in the world. ESPN3 has been awesome in this regard and I have not seen any network offer anything even close to as good as ESPN 3 for live sporting events. Moving away from ESPN scares the hell out of me.

I'm with ya. ESPN and its brethren have been a godsend. Seriously skeptical about whether Fox, CBS, NBC or anybody else can deliver anywhere near the comprehensive coverage that have made it possible to watch just about every MU game.

Don't fret.

The Satellite Companies will sell us a $600 ticket?

Fox has better technology than ESPN in many regards.  HD for one.  That was my point.  They have built out other delivery systems aside from linear in the past so there will be other ways to consume their content.

When in Gonzaga getting the invite?  Bleacher Report gives them an A-.   http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1476885-catholic-7-grading-the-appeal-of-potential-candidates-for-their-new-conference

Gotcha on superior tech. A lot of Fox investment in tech is the child of Deng Wenge. Far superior to ESPN in many ways.

Don't listen to all the chatter here and other boards that are omitting Gonzaga. Ball is in the Zags court now.

Are you able to get ESPN3 internationally?  I'm going to Saudi Arabia and thinking it's doubtful I'll get games.

What concerns me is the possibility of a blackout rule. I want to see the games live and I'll find a stream rather than wait for a replay of the game at 2am. What will Fox do if the MU game vs Providence is on at the same time as Louisville vs GT? If Fox has an exclusive I can see delayed broadcasts becoming common.

Gonzaga's not coming. Time to accept that. Maybe we'll check back with them in 2-3 years.

Negative on getting ESPN3 internationally... Was in Mex before Xmas and unable to get it or HBO GO on the iPad.  Missed two MU games and not pleased.

Hoping that the FSN regional networks are able to pick up games, since they can be viewed nationally, at least on DirecTV.  Scheduling can be done to make sure conference games are never happening at the same time, but I doubt Fox and FS1 can or want to handle much of the non-conference slate as well.

Those who say Zaga is out?  Why?  Source?  I have heard they are still a possibility?

I think the fact that it seems no one is talking about them in all these media reports leads people to believe that either they were not invited, or have turned down an invitation.

Zags may yet join. They are still part of the mix.

i just posted this elsewhere, might make more sense here:

good background on the potential partners. still sounds like NBC/Fox are the best fits since they could utilize the FSN/CSN regional networks to get local content out there easier.
