I'm just curious of everybody's opinions on being seen as the bad guy because we're being considered one of the leaders in the C7.  I see the way we look at SU and Pitt, but do you see us getting any of the recoil from this move that they're getting?

I personally don't care and am happy to be in the driver's seat rather than waiting to see where we wind up.  I say we give the Lebron James excuse and say "What should I do?" when people question our decision to move on.  It's Time to move on.  Rather than find the next girl we should weird science this and create our own.

Meh... So what.  MUs only concern should be what's best for MU, not what others think. Besides, no one in the national media is criticizing this move by the C7.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

They want us out of the conference and say they want football teams only that we get in the way and should sit on the floor snd be quiet. We leave and they get upset. UConn beg us to stay while they try to leave us behind. Good riddance. Leaving is risky, but we have no choice. I see us as being in a conference driven by football. No choice but to leave.

It is like now that we are breaking up with them, they say they really love us and want us to stay.

GoldenZebra

Who cares, the rest of the football schools were gonna screw MU in the end, so might as well take the proactive step to decide our own future...

bilsu

Uconn and Cincy were gone the day before anyone else would have taken them. Believe me, we are not the bad guys/

GGGG

That's why the booing of SU and Pitt was silly.  Everyone is looking out for their best interests.

dgies9156

I can live with being the bad guy.

As Al once said, commenting about how a team should reflect the personality of its coach:

"My teams are arrogant and obnoxious!"

I can live with that!

mu_hilltopper

Hey, MU didn't start all this.  We'd be happily existing in 2012's Big East if it weren't for 20 other disloyal teams screwing us.

Tugg Speedman

Who is back-lashing against the C7?   Cincy, Uconn and USF?  NO ONE CARES what they think!

Avenue Commons

We only reacted to the actions of others. The current Big East is not consistent with MU's goals.
We Are Marquette

T-Bone

I'm like a turtle, sometimes I get run over by a semi.

tower912

I'm not worried about backlash.    The bottom line is that basketball built the Big East and football killed it.   The option for the C7 was ultimately to be pro-active and move as a group or be left to die.
Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

It is better to be fearless and cheerful than cheerless and fearful.

Goose

I could not care less. We were forced to be pro-active and it appears we were. I do not hold grudge on the schools that quit BE before us and am looking forward. If anyone is pissed, who cares?

You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

I agree with most, who cares?  I would also gladly take the recoil from ditching the C7 for and ACC invite.  As would Georgetwon.  As would St. John's. As would Villanova................................

What does the ACC have to offer at this point other than more instability?

You're completely missing the entire point of the C7 movement.

Basketball games against North Carolina, Duke, North Carolina State, and yes, Syracuse and Pittsburgh.

Did I forget Florida State?  Louisville?

even if the acc loses half of those schools i'd still like to play the rest in basketball all the time very much.

Not for Pitt.

They were a major player in the fracturing of the BE.

"University of Pittsburg Chancellor Mark A. Nordenberg convincing Big East leadership to turn down a TV contract renewal and upgrade from ESPN mere months before his Panthers ditched the conference was especially galling to those inside the Big East who were steadfastly working to secure its place as a power conference.  Nordenberg was promoting a belief inside the league that it could find a better deal than the one ESPN had offered.  At the same he was orchestrating his school's departure from the Big East for the ACC.  Nordenberg realized if the Big East signed a new contract with ESPN it would be more difficult to extract his school from the league and any exit fee would likely be massively increased.  He was quite literally a fox in the chicken coop."
