I don't know if anyone here has seen this "Final Report" concerning the nickname issue.  I was reading through the report and I found it striking that the write-in name scored 3rd highest.  3,264 of 5,587 write ins were for the warriors.  Even though the survey claimed that warriors or anything containing war references would be discounted, if everyone had voted their heart and wrote-in warriors, it would have made an incredible statement.  12,180 voted for golden eagles and 2nd was hilltoppers with 9,298.

oh well, hind-sight is 20/20.

what I want to know is who are the 537 people who voted for Spirit?  The Marquette Spirit?  Seriously?

Are you trying to get me started?

What's laughable is that they claimed they would not tablulate write-in votes for Warriors. They then turned around and did just that - I believe in a misguided attempt to prove a lack of support for our rightful name. In fact, it proves the exact opposite. Despite being told specifically that voting for Warriors would be like burning your vote a very large percentage voted for it anyway.

If they announced Warrior votes would have been counted, I honestly think GE would have received less than 1,000 votes.

isnt that the name of the dance squad that everyone laughs at during games?  maybe all former and present members of the dance team voted for that.  oh and probably the rah rahs too.

I'm with you here.  Warriors would have won hands down.  I wish I would have voted with my heart instead of going with Hilltoppers.  My guess is the people who voted Hilltoppers, Blue & Gold, and Avalanche would have rather voted Warriors.

I was one of those.  I wrote in Jumpin Jesuits and then voted for Hilltoppers the second time.  Obviously it would have been Warriors both times if they had counted.
