Was UMBC Blacked Out in Your Area?
« on: November 27, 2012, 10:00:00 AM »
In an effort to improve the collective knowledge base for televised games and blackouts, I am curious as to who - amongst non-Time Warner subscribers - was and wasn't blacked out of the UMBC game last night.  If you are not a Time Warner subscriber in Wisconsin, I would appreciate if you could answer the following:

1) Were you blacked out?
2) Your cable/satellite provider
3) Your location/DMA (city/state)
4) What channel/website (SNY, Full Court, ESPN3, WatchESPN)

Future out-of-market viewers of MU games thank you for your input.
Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

In years past the nonconference games have been blacked out on SNY for me but once the BE conference games start then they are not.
I was told it has to do with TW32 producing the game instead of the BE network

Probably the only game of the season ESPN Fullcourt package through DTV would have been necessary

You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

1) Were you blacked out? Yes
2) Your cable/satellite provider Comcast
3) Your location/DMA (city/state) Indianapolis, IN
4) What channel/website (SNY, Full Court, ESPN3, WatchESPN) SNY

On SNY there is an overlay screen that says game is available for purchase on a pay per view station.  Turned on ESPN3 and the game worked fine.

Extremely interesting.... this is exactly what I'm looking for since Indy is not supposed to be a blackout area.  Of course, I assume your Comcast subscription normally includes SNY?

Anybody else blacked out in Naptown last night?

This happened numerous times last year in Indy.  I think it was a Pittsburgh-Providence game on before the Marquette game, I set the DVR, that game went long.  So it recorded the end of that game, then when the switch was made, this overlay screen appeared.

I don't even bother with SNY (channel 266 I think), I've called Comcast before and complained and they never give a straight answer.  Anyways, WatchESPN app plus Apple TV airplay...problem solved.

Maybe Comcast considers you Chicago?

I was surprised it wasn't blacked out on ESPN3, since TW32 games have usually been blacked out on there in the past.
