Tomorrow we have a very winnable game against Mississippi State. We win that, and we are 1-1 in Maui...probably no different than what would have happened had we won today. We were not gonna beat UNC. Maybe the RPI is slightly better with a win over Butler and a L to UNC...but whatever...its 1-1.

We win tomorrow, I will immediately erase this game from my mind.

A ridiculous shot was made. It happens. Move forward.

🏀

Victor, you know better. This board can not move forward!!!@!@!!!! THEY DESERVED IT!@!@!!!!!!

I think we play Wednesday too if we win tomorrow, right?

tower912

Very exciting game.    Lousy ending.    Our forwards couldn't guard the drive, but Butler couldn't make FT's.   Blue and Cadougan really showed up, JWilson left his game on the mainland.    Ah, well.

Yes, just didn't want to get too far ahead of myself...

Not much you can do about the shot. Good game. Need a much better effort from Jamil. He hurt us today.

Worst part is all the games are now going to be during the work day.

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

Biggest positive of today was Vander having a great game...started out terrible but stuck with it, and had what I feel was his best game yet at MU.  Hope this is a springboard for his confidence and he can sustain a similar level of play the rest of the year.

On the other hand - Did Jamil Wilson make the trip to Maui?  Awful..in every facet today.  Terrible D.  Terrible O.  Fouls.  Juan Anderson should have gotten all of Jamil's minutes in the 2nd half.
"I'm not sure Cadougan would fix the problems on this team. I'm not even convinced he would be better for this team than DeWil is."

We play Wednesday no matter what happens. However, lose to Miss. State and we play Chaminade. Not good.

Yeah "glass half full" goes out the window if we lose to Miss. State. Then its Code Red.

Must win tomorrow.

J. Wilson had no points, three rebounds and fouled out.  Marshal and Jones just ate him up on the inside.  MU will be hurting big time if he does not improve.

Vander was terrible in first half, but played probably his best half of basketball ever in the second half.

Lockett may not be the replacement everyone thought he would be.

It took a miracle shot by Thomas just to get the lead, then MU gives up a layup real quick.  The missed free throw by Junior was just another error, but not the big one.

Just amazing how high level programs shoot free throws.

Butler was worse from the foul line than MU was.    MU lost this game because of poor rebounding and the inability of our forwards to defend.

+1 - Only saw the last 9 minutes because of work, but that was the best stretch I remember ever seeing from him.

And I have no idea what people see in Derrick Wilson. He isnt ready this year. He plays like a football player turned basketball player....which is exactly what he is. He didnt receive high major scholarships to play running back because he isnt athletic enough and doesnt have the speed. Mid-level programs liked him at safety but he didnt like the idea of playing defense. Thus, he chose bball. Hopefully, he figures it out.

You're complaining about the wrong Wilson. Derrick was fine. Did his job, ran the offense, didn't turn it over and played pretty good d on Clarke. It was Jamil that was the problem.

Testify.   We got exactly what we expected from DWilson.   JWilson leaving his game on the mainland was the single biggest problem.

Or 4 of our frontcourt players spending the bulk of the second half with 4 fouls. There were a lot of problems with that game. What makes it worse is that we're going to be seeing Clarke's ridiculous puke shot for the next month straight.

tower912

Agree about the foul trouble, brewcity, and will agree with anyone who says a couple of the calls were weak.    The bottom line, though, is that our forwards as a group were unable to stop dribble penetration.     Gardner can't be fouling 35 ft from the basket.    If the guy you are guarding can only dribble one way, take that away from him.    Play defense and rebound with your feet and anticipation.    The forwards didn't do it today.

Already up on Deadspin and The Big Lead.  No such thing as bad publicity, right?

That's my biggest concern walking away from this game. Overall, I thought the refs called a very good game, in what was a physical contest. Other than Davante's 3rd foul, which was 35 feet from the hoop, those fouls were earned. No nickel-dimers.

It seems to me that through the first three games, MU is fouling at a much higher rate than past Buzz squads.

BM1090

So irritated. Positives are Vander and that we have a chance to get the sour taste out of our mouths tomorrow.

There isn't. It was an incredible shot, and no one thinks less of Marquette for it.
