He dropped a class because he was doing poorly.  He was doing poorly because he wasn't going to them.  Seriously, he knew what the rules were and still decided that it wasn't really a priority for him.  Can't really blame LW or SP for this.

Sultan has a rule that it's OK for him to guess, but not for others to do so.

If going to class was required I never would've made it through undergrad let alone grad school.

Need to work with the kid and ensure supports are there, he may need more help then most kids but giving up on him and letting him fail out (which i'm not sure how that is possible with umpteen more weeks of school) is jacked up especially when we've had scholars like James Matthews, Trevor Mbakwe, etc. come through here under Crean.

Mayo missed three weeks of at least one class.
Goal is National Championship
CBP profile my people who landed here over 100 yrs before Mayflower. Most I've had to deal with are ignorant & low IQ.
Can't believe we're living in the land of F 452/1984/Animal Farm/Brave New World/Handmaid's Tale. When travel to Mars begins, expect Starship Troopers

So have I.  Early  in my college career I only went to one class three times and still got a B +.

At some point the responsibility falls on him

Not everyone can do that and it was a class were attendance was required. A class that you had to show to be graded.

What's done is done and there obviously needs to be some personal responsibility.  I just hope the same supports are in place and Mayo is an extreme.   Cause we had a long streak of academically eligible players at MU through Crean etc. that were borderline, not to mention a Crean thief special(heyo Pat Hazel).

Blackhat

Anywho  good game fellas!!

Big Davante doing work, love the length of Jamil (can't wait for McKay to get here, fingers crossed).

Nice to see Cadougan hitting some outside shots.

Vander definitely is still the mystery from his junior year run at Memorial, hopefully he can clean up some of his game still.

Not blaming anyone but Mayo, but doesn't the basketball program verify these guys are in class every day? I would think that would be standard procedure, particularly given Mayo's past. If that's true that he missed three weeks of one class, he should have been called on it much sooner. That said, it's hard to feel bad for Todd if he wasn't making any effort. He was begging for trouble. It would be a real shame to waste the opportunity he's been given.

Good for you.  Many college classes nowadays have strict attendance policies.  2 misses, each miss thereafter results in a drop in your final grade by one letter.  6 misses and you can at best get an F.

Iwb posted this scenario on his site.  It was the rationale he said he pieced together from different sources but stated it was very tough to get to the truth due to privacy laws.

It has been repeatedly stated this is an NCAA thing not an MU thing.

This was the rule as far as 20 years ago.  Doesn't mean that it's followed anymore now than it was then.  One of my professors had a breakdown of what each class cost based on tuition and said we were old enough to make our own choice.  I paid my own tuition so it made sense to me.

My "source" (bball office) says after talking to Todd that he and a girl handed in tests with the same answers and the teacher was suspicious, so he had to drop the class, putting him below the required minimum.  Word is that he has a chance to be back around Christmas Break (Second Semester he would be back to taking the required minimum again - I don't know the NCAA ruling on that) so I guess we'll all just stay tuned and hope that our best offensive wing gets some good luck going his way.

Not that I mind, but how exactly was that dancing around it?

Pretty big stones on whoever your "source" is to let slip an accusation of cheating.

Congratulations!  If Mayo were getting a B+ this wouldn't be an issue...

Buzz does seem a little tamer this year. At this point on I am chalking it up to learning a new team and figuring things out. If things remain the same I will start to woory or question the new Buzz. For those Packer fans I remember Holmgren in last year in GB and he had look of guy moving on. Not there on Buzz now and I hope he becomes the excited Buzz as season moves on.

Really? After 2 games against weak, no-name opponents where he admittedly let the players play through some of their issues, you're ready to call Buzz tamer?

Do you do anything but start rumors? Buzz was the first guy to help Lockett up after taking a charge and was dancing around with him. He's the same Buzz, he just has higher expectations for our guys against these cupcakes and every year he lets them play through adversity at this time.

The information I have received regarding Mayo I have gotten from my own contacts...not from any other site.  I have known about his issues long ago.

All I said is Buzz seems less hyper to me thus far. I can tell you that as a fan I have been less hyper watching these games. Really not sure on what rumor I started with my post other voicing opinion that Buzz seems tamer. The games have sucked and rotation has not helped. As mentioned not overly concerned with anything other than the fact we look pretty crappy to me.

In other words, confirmation bias.

At this point I have completely blocked out Buzz staying or going from thought process. Long season and much can happen. My comments on Buzz were based on he seemed mellow to me by his standards. Seriously, I am hoping for Buzz to stay and not looking for anything other than a fun season.

jsglow

As to the 'play through it' comments, Buzz actually did call a timeout or two last night at critical junctions in the second half to make sure the game didn't slip away.  I have specific recollection from last year actually of Buzz allowing the team to play 'all the way' through it w/o using any timeouts.  Stress on the kids early in the season pays dividends later.
