26 minutes, second most on the team.  10 points, 4th most on team.  5 steals, 6 rebounds, 3 blocks, 1 assist, no turnovers.  Named as star of the game twice in a row.  Forget about contributing, he might start for this team before the preseason is over.

Hey, can we ban this guy for this comment?   ;)

Any updates on DJO or Jerel McNeal?

Toronto played last night, but Jerel didn't.

Jae is getting a lot of love from the Mavs blogs as of late. Of course, had they just trusted Bama, it wouldn't be a surprise.

I would imagine DJO and Jerel have about 5 to 7 more days with their teams.

Anyone hear about Hayward's chance of staying at OKC?

Another big night. Looks like he's in line for legitimate PT come the regular season.

Zar played on Tuesday against Jimmy MF Butler and the Bulls.  The wife and I had a great time cheering on our MU boys :)

NBA execs overthink it when it comes to guys like Jae. Sure, he's too small to play in the post and too slow to play on the perimeter, etc, etc. He's a basketball player. Put him on the court and he'll make things happen. He's not going to be an elite NBA player but he's definitely going to be better than the 34th-best player in the draft class.

Hards Alumni

He sure does fill up the stat sheet, but the thing that is glaring at me from yesterday's line is the -14 in the +/-.

Granted, only 2 guys had +'s.

True but Dallas sat 4 starters against the defending conf champs who played everybody. -14 isn't all that bad  ;)

Canned Goods n Ammo

If he can hit the NBA 3 consistently, I think he'll find a decent role. He's not big enough to score out of the post, so he's going to have to hit the corner 3 in the 1/2 court offense.

If he can do that, I think his versatility will get him in the game.

Silkk the Shaka

Jae is going to have a long and successful NBA career, and will be a fan favorite wherever he goes based on his attitude and smart play alone, not to mention the stat sheet he'll stuff on a regular basis.

Otule's Glass Eye

Hopefully this leads to more MU players getting drafted higher than predicted, seeing what Crowder is doing as a 2nd round pick. Worked with Wes (although he was undrafted) and now hopefully Crowder.

like they did with lazar being a similar "tweener"...i don't think they over-think...i think it's an impossible science

arrived in Portland the other day and sports page featured a picture of Wes laying one in and the next column to the right highlighted Jae scoring 12 for the Mavs
Went down and had a celebratory local brew.

I know it's not "real life" but I think it speaks volumes that Wes and Jae are "guys to own" in fantasy leagues for what they are doing on the court.  Heck, Rotoworld has been talking about keeping tabs on Jimmy as well pending Hamilton's injuries and/or disappearance. It's nice to see that not only are they staying on their respective teams, but they are expected/projected to have nice statistical impacts as well.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

Here's a very complimentary write up from the Dallas Morning News...

From Dallas Morning News:

Sefko: 2nd-round rookie beast Crowder may start opener for Mavs
EDDIE SEFKO / Staff writer

The list is as forgettable as it is regrettable.

Shan Foster, Nick Fazekas, Maurice Ager, Rodrigue Beaubois, Dominique Jones.

That five-pack of players represent Mavericks draft hauls from 2006 to 2010, which was more than they got in 2011 when Rudy Fernandez never showed up at all.

Each of those other players was picked either late in the first round or in the second round. Some were acquired on draft night. But they all were Mavericks selections in one form or another.

And while many people still hold out hope for Beaubois and Jones, the group represents one big collective flop.

It's been so long, fans have a tough time remembering that the Mavericks hit in 2003 on No. 29 overall pick Josh Howard, who became an all-star before knee problems hit him.

So now, all of the sudden, this beast named Jae Crowder has dropped in the Mavericks' laps. And amid Dirk Nowitzki's surgery, uncertainty with center Chris Kaman's health and a general detachment among fandom, the 6-6 rookie from Marquette is the one source of excitement as the Mavericks close in on the end of the preseason.

"He's making great progress," coach Rick Carlisle said of Crowder. "You love guys who over the course of a game do everything hard. They force their opponent to play on every possession, and he's one of those guys who does that.
