I have just read that Shawn Eichorst, a 1995 graduate of Marquette Law School, will succeed Tom Osborne as athletic director at the University of Nebraska.

This is terrific news for a bright guy who is a great representative of Marquette University and its law school.

Eichorst heads to Lincoln after having served as athletic director at the University of Miami since April 2011. From 2006 to 2011, Eichorst was senior athletic director, then executive associate athletic director and then deputy athletic director at the University of Wisconsin at Madison.

Eichorst is a former assistant adjunct professor of law at Marquette, where he taught classes in sports law, and now serves on the Marquette University National Sports Law Institute board of advisers.

Shame the powers that be couldn't convince him to come home.
Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

It is better to be fearless and cheerful than cheerless and fearful.

He would have never come to MU.  He is widely considered to be Alvarez's successor at Madison when the time comes.

Curious, what's the difference in pay between MU and the mad town gig?

Barry makes over $1M per year.  I know that is something like in the top five in the country of those schools that report that salary.  My understanding is Eichorst is making just under $1M.  I doubt LW comes close to that.

Shawn Eichorst's starting salary as Nebraska's athletic director will be $973,000 a year, which will make him the third-highest-paid athletic director in the Big Ten and the sixth highest paid in the nation, according to Huskers Illustrated.

Why would an MU grad take the badger job?   ;D

He worked there.  He was also once the AD at UW-Whitewater and played football there too.

He's a rainmaker though.

i like taking jabs at UW as well, but in all seriousness, i have respect for the school...it does great things for our state.  that said, i have no understanding why trash like barry is encouraged to hang around, belima is known as a party guy, and bo's ends up being the one of the three i like the most.

Gary Bargen has been w/Nebraska forever & is Mike Bargen's father. I believe Gary is currently the Assoc AD for Compliance

MU is taking over Nebraska like ND is taking over MU

Don't you think the Nebraska job is bigger than the MU job? Football is religion there and the state sport. Plus, it's in the Big ten now, which is a much brighter place to be than the Big East.

Don't imagine many are lining up for the chance to have to chart the tricky waters of conference swaps from a MU perspective. Not saying we are in trouble, but from a prospective AD's perspective, it's something to consider.

Not that we need a new AD. We just got one.

Who's debating that point? Clearly Nebraska is a bigger AD job than Marquette.

Also the Nebraska AD job >>>>>> Wisconsin AD job.

Not really.  They are about the same in terms of revenues and expenses....UW is a little ahead of NU in both actually.
