You're about 24 hours late.

In other news, are your Packer tickets vs. the Lions still available?  ;D  I'll take them if they are.

Sorry :/. I saw it on my fantasy football news.

He clearly wanted to be the star of a sub-par school.  Sucks to see him stay in FIB country.  I wish him the best of luck, and am sorry we won't be seeing him in blue and gold.

TallTitan34

Or he just wanted more playing time down there. Can't fault him on that.

Dawson Rental

Or maybe he just didn't like being called a FIB.  I can't imagine Steve Taylor would be happy about it ether.  Maybe this FIB business is what got Nunn all excited about going to his state school.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

I'm sure this was the reason.

Champaign is infinitely more redneck than Milwaukee.  I can only imagine how God-awful the townies must be down there.

Seemed like a reasonable choice for KN.  I think Groce is going to have the program back to the NCAA in +- 3 years.

I have a couple of Illini friends who said that Nunn cooled on MU given some internal issues with the program.  They didn't have any specifics, but that is what they heard.  They also stated that MU really was not in it at the end.  The recruitment came down to IL and Ohio St.

BubbaWilliams

I think he had his heart set on playing in Europe when his college career is done. If he wanted to go to the NBA, he would have gone to MU.

Do your Illinois friends speak with Aki at Memphis? Friends know things.

Gosh, I never saw this coming. I'm stunned...stunned, I tell ya.  :o

You were right Groin Pull.  Nunn was never coming to MU.  Good call.

MU BBall.............0.

The important thing is not that we didn't get Nunn, rather that you were correct.  Nice job.

It's tougher to recruit to MU than I thought, and probably tougher than most think it is. Consider that the recruit may not like the make-up of the current team.  Not just coaches nor style of play, but personalities of his potential team mates can be a huge consideration for a young man.  Chemistry doesn't always work for everyone.

So "internal issues" sacred him away from MU.  But he was fine with going to program that has been dysfunctional for years, fired it head coach and saw its top three coaching choices pass on for the job.  Then it was forced to pick their 4th choice for a head coach and sell him to their boosters because he won two consecutive NCAA games.  A few weeks after choice 4 was on campus one his top assistants left for MU!

So explain to me why MU is unstable and UI is a rock of consistency?

What I'm saying is your Illini friends are making stuff up or have no idea what they are talking about.  My guess is it a combination of both.

What made MU tough to recruit was it had no talent in its back yard.  It always had to go other places for players.  Unless you're Duke this is really hard to do and MU actually did a remarkable good at it for the last few years.  Did we forget that we ended last year as a top 10 team?

This is changing now.  See next year's class where Nunn would have been the fourth best recruit, the other three ahead of him are all from Milwaukee.

Says who?
Lots of revisionist history here.
Nunn would have been a great get for MU. He chose to go elsewhere. It happens.

Burton, Wilson and McKay are all ranked ahead of Nunn.

Some rankings they are, many not. Generally, Nunn, Wilson and Burton are all very close. McKay, being a JUCO, isn't included in most rankings, so I'm curious where you come up with the statement he's ranked ahead of Nunn.

In the RSCI, Nunn is ranked first among the three. But obviously it's close.

Anyhow, it's good to know you think MU has reached a stage where top 50 players are extraneous. Me? I'll take all the top 50 kids we can get.

Tugg Speedman

I would love to have him but his loss does not set us back or dent Buzz's recruiting reputation.  Top 50 kids are what we are supposed to get going forward.  If not him, Buzz will find another.  Trust Buzz

I'm not on the ledge thinking this is repeat of Joe Wolf spurring us for UNC in the 1980s.  We are in a much better position now.

nyg

All close, but McKay listed as a four star JUCO and one of best in country JUCOs.

Rivals:  Nunn  #42
          Wilson #53
          Burton #54

Scout:   Burton #52
           Nunn  #54
           Wilson #68

Toss ups at this stage.  Now Looney in 2014 and Stone in 2015 are a whole new level of rankings.

ceh

I was just relaying what I heard.  Feel free to educate me regarding what really went down.  Also, I could very well see how outsiders could view MU as unstable at this point in time - conference, coaching turnover, coaching reprimands / suspensions, athletic sex scandal / new AD, etc.
