PC's Ledo a partial qualifier

Andy Katz at ESPN is also referring to Ledo as a "partial qualifier", so someone else who should know is using that term.  The ESPN story says that if he meets academic requirements next year Ledo will be a redshirt freshman, rather than a sophomore, maybe that's what's changed.

Also, I didn't think the BE allowed partial qualifiers.  The whole thing is odd.

With no Ledo or Dunn, PC's class has been decimated, for now.  They may get Dunn and an Arizona transfer back in December.  Still, looks like another down year for the Friars.

It may be a down year for them, but Cooley is turned it up a notch recruiting wise.  When Dunn gets healthy, and if Ledo sticks around, they could be much improved starting in 2013.  I know we are recruiting some people that they are looking at as well.

With Syracuse and Pitt moving on after this year, a step up by Providence in 2013-14 would be a welcomed event.

That would be different, wouldn't it? Wasn't Wade only given 3 years of eligibility? But wasn't there something about, if after 3 years he could show that he was on track for graduation her could've had a fourth? (Like he would've ever stayed and played for 4 years! But you get my question.)

There is no such thing as a partial qualifier.  You are a qualifier or a nonqualifier. 

Ledo received a partial waiver.  In addition, if he is on track (loosely described, if he's completed 80% towards his degree after 4 years of school) he would then receive a fourth year.

Technically, he'll be a sophomore next year.. but could have two "senior" years. 

People will call it a partial qualifier and say he's a freshman next year.  Technically incorrect, but the effect may turn out to be the same.

There is no way Ledo sticks around. The kid is a monster. I think he could pull a Brandon Jennings here.

I agree with the first part, definitely. I don't think Ledo is close to Brandon Jennings level (he was the #1-rated recruit in his class) but I do feel he has surrounded himself with the wrong types of people over and over. There's a reason his recruitment was so troubling and that his qualification has been so troubling. I see him making a grab for the NBA as soon as he has a chance, and would be a bit surprised if he ever played for Providence; if he does, I see him having a Josh Selby-like career.

I agree with the first part, definitely. His recruiting ranking would be much higher had he not been at different high schools throughout his playing career, and didn't have the question marks surrounding him. I highly doubt that when he was at my high school, Hendricken, that anyone was sizing him up as a future NBA player. When he went to Kent, and ND Prep he got a little more recognition. This kid is a stud. He is very capable of playing in the NBA. His size is perfect, his talent is great. He was just with the wrong crowd, and is really kind of a thug to begin with. He defintely wont play for PC. Im interested to see what happens.
