UWGB and UWM have offered him. Should Marquette?

Jerrelle Deberry – Class of 2014 – Milwaukee Destiny HS

6'4 Jerrelle Deberry (Milwaukee Destiny HS) was Wisconin's third leading scorer last season after averaging 25.7 ppg. Deberry plays with the Playground Elite AAU program.

dpucane

He did great against those cones, but let's see what he can do against Yi Jianlian's chair before we make an educated decision

It could be that MidwestBallers is trying to raise the profile of one of their own who is being slotted as a Horizon League level player.

What kind of competition does Destiny HS play?
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

muhoops1

I say we offer everybody.  Law of averages states that we will sign some of 'em.

Thanks for the info.  No idea why people complain, make jokes about someone posting Video of a player wtih Mid major offer's that is just starting his Jr in WISC.

I know its not meaningless bantor, and rehashing of things over 14 pages of posts but people.

For those of you who know so much about MU basketball.  2014 is a huge year for us.  We will lose, J wilson, DG, CO, and Vander and we look to be not out of the gate that strong mostly because after looney WISC is not as strong as 2013.

It looks like he is rated 4th in Wisc for 2014.  A little hard for me to tell

NY2LASPORTS.COM - 2012 NEXT LEVEL INVITATIONAL: All the Big Wisc boys played.

Jerrelle Deberry – 2014 – SG – Playground Elite
6-5 – Destiny H.S. – Milwaukee, WI
The scoring wing continued to soar with another 32 point effort on Thursday night.  Deberry gets buckets and that was evident once again as he drilled trey balls, slashed to the rim, knocked down runners and floaters, etc.  He can fill it up and proved that once again yesterday.

Jerrelle DeBerry 6-4 - 2014 - Playground Elite - DeBerry had an absolutely huge night for Playground Elite, willing his team to a victory over the Minnesota Warriors with 32 points. DeBerry went on a few scoring surges in the second half, often beating the Warriors down the floor, and finishing through contact. Berry also hit the game winning basket with 1.8 seconds left, with a tough, hanging shot in the lane.

Not sure what you mean by one of our own. The kid invited me to film him working out, and I did. I believe Destiny plays Dominican, Vincent and a couple other very good teams this season.

Or you could just go watch the kid play in a game and see for yourself. Lets leave Yi outta of this, PLEASE!

If you're referring to the video of that 10 yo Chicago kid, he's related or close to MoAck. That's why he's wearing his MU practice jersey (I believe).

EDIT: this says it all...

"I know some get a kick out of and/or are perturbed by the fact that 8th graders get recruited... here's 10 year old Jaylin Fleming outta Chicago.. says they figured out he could ball when he first played with Maurice Acker a few years ago. Acker, who just finished his senior season at Marquette, is Jaylin's dad's godson... "

Well, I don't know if I can really claim to know much about MU basketball, but at least I comprehend that a 6'4" SG isn't going to do much to help MU overcome the loss of Jamil Wilson, DG or CO, although he could potentially be helpful in dealing with losing Vander.

ESPN indicates that their experts have identified 10 players who are being recruited by MU who are from the 2014 class.  I consider this at least anecdotal evidence that Buzz Williams, himself, may be aware how many openings MU will have for that class.  So, while players entering their junior year in HS may be a mystery to you, they are not a mystery to MU's coaching staff.  Surprisingly, none of the players identified by ESPN is Mr. DeBerry.

The truly laughable thing regarding this thread is the thought that if a kid for whatever reason has not caught the attention of the MU basketball staff, he could get himself in contention for a grant-in-aid by having a guy film him working out on his own and posting a clip from that workout on a fan discussion forum.

I confused MidwestBallers with his AAU program.  Thanks for clearing that up.

No, not Jaylin Fleming, although he's really good (and related to MoAck?) I was talking about this kid
