Rounding out the 2013 class: Switchables

Written by: Mark Strotman

Before the 2012 season begins, Paint Touches will look at how Buzz Williams and Marquette can finish their 2013 recruiting class. As it stands, Marquette has one open scholarship for the class. If Chris Otule does not return for a ... Continue reading →

Hopefully someone will transfer---- Names to mention that would look good in a MU Uniform -----
1. Kendrick Nunn 6-2 G
2. Jermaine Lawrence 6-8 F  New York
3. Kyle Washington  6-9 F  Minnesota
4. Nick King  6-7 F. Memphis
5. Stevie Clark 5-10 G Oklahoma

Not sure on the status of Demarcus Croaker 6-3 G Florida

And Stevie Clark no longer lists Marquette. He was one I really hoped Buzz would reel in, but he's probably staying in the South.

I am pretty sure that was Buzz and the staff's decision. Clark's mom was literally begging for MU to get involved again (as I recall, she tweeted Aki asking for Buzz to call) but we never got back in the picture. I think if we wanted Clark, he would have been ours. But with Duane in the fold, we seemed to set our sights elsewhere.

Well that just makes me even more bitter about it  :)

OK strotty.  Now there's absolutely no doubt that you are a gifted journalist and we trust and hope that you'll remember all the little people at muscoop when you are the Chicago Trib editor in chief but let's remember Buzz' track record.  If he stops recruiting a kid, there's no way you or I know better.  Just sayin' young fella.  :-)

You're hoping someone from the current Marquette team transfers so MU can get a recruit from your list?  Really?  Deonte Burton, Jameel McKay, Duane Wilson Jr. and one more scholarship to recruit isn't enough?  Really?

Yeah I missed that.  Again people on the board wanting the shiny new toy of a potential prospect and not wanting to let a player develop instead.

MattyWarrior

Why would you want a transfer? Our roster looks solid up and down, no more turmoil. Add Nunn and be done!

Earl Tatum

I still want Jermaine Lawrence, 6-9 with a long reach from NY. NY players contributed heavily to the MU
program. Larry McNeill, George Frazier, Butch Lee, Dean the Dream, Bernard Toone, and Sam Worthen
and Earl Tatum. Tough, hard nosed players. Lawrence still has MU on his list. These guys were class. With Nunn, I'm satisifed. Can't teach height.

TedBaxter

Here's a list given by Lawrence' AAU coach as to what schools he's hearing from:

"Syracuse is really interested. Cincinnati, I hear from a lot. Villanova, Florida, St. John's, Rutgers, Kansas, Maryland, UNLV. Those are the schools I hear from the most I would say."

Oh, absolutely. I never rip on Buzz for bringing a guy in, so I can't rip on him for not bringing a guy in. Didn't mean to say Buzz made the wrong call, just that personally I loved his game. Plus, if I cry over Stevie Clark it would take time away from me crying over Gabe York.  ;D

Earl Tatum

Ted Baxter: Not sure of Lawrence's latest recruit status. It's just a hope. Nick King  still has us on his list, but I would be surprised if we were 1-2-3. Nunn is number one. Hope Anderson or Wilson can give us some help. Is Croaker still high on our list?
