The only downside to my having UVerse is that I don't get this channel.  Oh, well.

I'd much rather get NFL Network than TWC.  SNY picks up the weekly Buzz show during the season and 99% of games.  You can't get the Thursday NFL games anywhere else.

Watching it now... a lot of MU talk. His answer about Mayo was very interesting.

First of all, he'll be back. But Buzz mentioned that he's sent guys home all but one summer. Mentioned Fulce, Acker, even DJO and Jae, all did something wrong and he wanted them back hungrier. Said what Todd did wasn't anything worse than what those other guys did, and that he's academically eligible.

Going off of memory, hopefully TWC will put some video up of it.

Mr. Nielsen

The roundtable is always on at 4:30pm everyday as well.

Buzz was in a great mood and looked very happy!

Unplug the cable box, wait 11 seconds, plug back in again. Now, let it reboot.

That's correct!!  ;)

Buzz is very happy at Marquette.

Buzz said the storyline of the summer should be Tony Benford getting the job at North Texas.

Buzz very much .. belittled .. the Mayo story, like no big deal, he "screwed up" much like all the other guys he's sent home in the summer, Jae, DJO, Fulce, Acker, and "no one blogged" about those suspensions.

Can't help but scratch my head on the public part of this.  Either his current story is sugar coated, or they just completely do not care what the public is discussing, vis a vis MU players' off-court performance / have no interest in correcting what's in the public arena.

I think Buzz has no cares.  I'm sure others at MU do. I've long thought Buzz cares a lot less about keeping airwaves clean than TC. I think Buzz sees the bad pr for players as learning opps for players rather than unwanted press for program.

Is there any way to rewatch this? I'm in Chicago and don't have TWC so if someone can point me in the right direction online that would be awesome, thanks.

Yeah this sounds more like PR spin on the Mayo situation more than anything else.  I mean, I know Crowder went home last summer - but the story on that was that he hadn't been home much in the previous couple of years.  So that was a "suspension" too?

Or maybe we're all Buzz's children, and he's trying to teach all of us a life lesson.

Buzz definitely is less concerned in general than MU. I guess if you knew if one $2.1m job didn't work out and you could replace it overnight it probably makes life easier. Buzz rolls his way and you take both the bad and the good with that.

That's one take on it. Another might be that institutions try to manage perceptions because they feel so vulnerable to them. An individual with a clear conscience doesn't need to worry. Of course it doesn't hurt if that individual is successful and sought after.

I would say that institutions manage perceptions, not because they feel vulnerable, it is because they are vulnerable. They must live with and response to the actions of their personnel, whether that's positive or negative.

And when it comes to college coaches, where only side (the coaches) hold and wield so much power, I completely understand why institutions would be insecure. If history as shown us anything in college athletics recently, it is that a successful coach holds all the cards and things like contracts, relationships, past success and institutional support do not matter. If a coach is going to make a move, he will move. They are independent operators to the utmost degree.

Did Buzz actually call sending the other guys home for the summer "suspensions?"

Lenny,
