I would expect them to win the next two games, if they lose to Butler. If they beat Butler, I would expect them to lose to North Carolina and then win the last game. 2-1 either way. It appears if we lose, the consolation games will be  in the evening central time.

So, does Tokoto transfer back after we beat UNC?

You consider 1:30 pm and 4:00 pm "the evening"?  I don't.
The shaka sign, sometimes known as "hang loose", is a gesture of friendly intent often associated with Hawaii and surf culture.

Oops I read the bracket backwards. I assumed the games to the left were the winners and the games to the right were the losers. Looking more closely, it is the other way around.

No bracket in the history of mankind has been set up that way

The first time is Hawaiian time. Marquette's first game will be at 3:30 Eastern Time

To win it, we'll have to go through the three best teams in the bracket, most likely. I honestly didn't expect Butler to be possible, as I thought they'd be one of the four "favored" teams. Looks like the bracket-makers favor Illinois over Butler and probably over us as well. A UNC/Marquette final is probably about as good a draw as UNC/Texas, but the most likely upset of their ideal draw is almost certainly Marquette over UNC, certainly more likely than either USC or Illinois beating Texas.

UNC is an interesting team in that they have a lot of talent, but do not have a lot of expereince returning. The last time UNC had a team like this they were rewarded an NIT bid after going 16-16. Like MU they have no double digit returning scorers.

Will the Maui Invitational 3rd or 4th place banner be going up for bid anytime soon?
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

ESPN jumping to conclusions? What if Miss ST actually wins? ::)

QuoteLAHAINA, Hawaii -- North Carolina, a three-time champion of the EA Sports Maui Invitational, will face Mississippi State in the opening round of the 29th edition of the tournament.

The brackets, released Thursday, show the Tar Heels getting the winner of the Butler-Marquette game in the semifinals. The other half of the bracket had Texas playing Chaminade, the Division II host school, and Southern California meeting Illinois.

The championship game is Nov. 21.

North Carolina won the tournament in 1999, 2004 and 2008, and the Tar Heels are trying to close in on Duke's record five titles. No other team in the 2012 field has won the tournament although Illinois (2000) and Marquette (2007) both finished second.

The tournament has four schools -- Colgate, Coppin State, Elon and Florida Atlantic -- which will only play regional games at campus sites.
