Drew Packman, who ranks the rookies for NBA.com, now has Jae Crowder as the 1st rookie to miss his top 10 rookies.  He does not include Michael Kidd-Gilchrist since he only played one (great) game before his injury, or Anthony Davis, since he has been on the Olympic team and not competed against the other rookies.  So if we assume those two are above Crowder, that makes Crowder the 13th best rookie out of this years draft.

If you look back at the projections Rob and I sent to all NBA teams before the draft and posted draft night, we said Crowder would be the - drum roll please - 13th best NBA player out of this draft.  Nice to see the subjective evaluation come out the same as the objective statistical.  Packman commented on his top 10, but had to add comments on his 11th best player as well:

And I have to give some love to Mavericks second-round pick Jae Crowder, who just misses the cut despite putting up 16.6 points and 5.4 rebounds in his five games in Las Vegas. Dallas got Crowder from the Cavs on draft night (who took him 34th overall) in the Tyler Zeller trade and could be a steal for the Mavs.

Dropped out: None
Just missed cut: Crowder, Josh Akognon, Dionte Christmas, Terrence Ross, Evan Fournier

The www.valueaddsports.com analysis of basketball, football and baseball players are intended to neither be too hot or too cold - hundreds immerse themselves in studies of stats not of interest to broader fan bases (too hot), while others still insist on pure observation (too cold).

watched his last Las vegas game and everybody was gushing over him.. Mark cuban said "Jae crowder is going to knock some people on their butts this year" refering to his strength and intensity.  can't wait to watch him play in the league

Great news.  Too often people get caught up in "measurables."  Jae is a player.  And I think Jimmy is really going to have an impact this year.  Hopefully Lazar can stick.
