Very Wade-like in his moves. Can see him thrive in an attacking transition game. Lots of dunks but can he shoot?

He might be good, but everyone was all giddy over Reggie smith 2 years ago based on some summer ball mix tape. Just sayin.

Speaking of Reggie, anyone hear if he landed at his third school?  A Google search comes up empty other than to say he is still looking. Hope the kid didn't screw the pooch...again.

Dunk opportunities result in a very small percentage of offensive series within a college game of basketball.

I'd rather see pull up jumpers, jumpers rolling/fading off screens, steals, assists, etc. for a highlight video to even begin to be worthwhile as far as evaluating a guy's game.

Croaker seemed to want to put out his And1 skills, staged dunks in wife beaters, etc.   Indicative of what is cool these days but not what I'd put together for a true highlight film.  The dumbing down of basketball is what that highlight film was.

Not going to impress too many basketball coaches and knowledgeable fans.

It isn't hard to search Youtube and found highlights from this game from last year.  He's #5 in white and shows more than dunking.

I see why Buzz likes him...very long and athletic.  Looks like Jamal Ferguson.

That vid told a lot better story.  Thanks.

Liked the way he shuffled his feet and stayed in front of the other star player on defense.  Very quick feet.

Shot had pretty good form and I agree he's got D Wadeish maneuverability to the hoop.

Would love to get this kid.

As far as the importance of dunking in college, I have one name... Trend Blackledge. (I like Trend, but his other skills were lacking)

Also, Does anyone know if DeMarcus will play the two or three. We have a bunch of SGs.

In Buzz's offense, the 2, 3, and 4 are entirely interchangeable.

While there's a lot of overlap, there was a big difference in the roles of a guy like DJO and a guy like Crowder. While 2-3 overlap and 3-4 also overlap, there aren't many guys we have that truly play all 3. Jamil Wilson and Vander Blue probably come the closest right now.

Well of course....when you actually plug the players in, they are going to play to their strengths.  The point is that asking if someone is going to play the "2 or the 3" is not really relevant because the positions themselves are interchangeable.

Now, assuming that we have a point and a post in the game, and Jamil is on the floor, he is going to be near the basket more likley than not.  But if he isn't in, and you have Blue, Lockett and Mayo (for example) on the floor, there really isn't someone in that type of position...and that is OK.

kmwtrucks

I veiw it as our forward spots are interchangable and or wing spots are interchangable, It just depends if we have a 2 Forward out there or 2 wings.  Croaker is wing in our system but that could be the 2 or 3. The only guy that I look at as both is Lockett at this point, and maybe Wilson next year.

No.  No one "knows".  Actually, no one even knows if he will play ANY position at Marquette, right?  Nobody (especially DeMarcus himself) has said he's actually coming to Marquette.

Hopefully this happens, but even if it does... Buzz better not call off the dogs on other targets.

Relax. Respect the Process.

Mr. Croaker seems like a fine young man, a future multiple Stud of the Game winner and a credit to the human race.

There. If he's reading this, he now knows he is loved and can commit to Marquette with a clear mind.

I'm going to go out on a limb here, and say that I think that BRMU23 was asking a "what if" question that assumed that if DeMarcus Croaker decided to come to MU, what position did the rest of us see him playing.  His question seemed to result in a short, but interesting, discussion about the role of the traditional 2, 3, and 4 positions in Buzz's offense, and in a sad attempt at a smack down by you.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

I apologize!  Just seemed a little premature to discuss what position a recruit WILL play before he commits to play here at all.  I'll attempt to refrain from any future sad attempts.

Thank you LittleMurs. Leever, settle down chief. Let me rephrase my question for those of you who only see in black and white; does anyone know which position DeMarcus wants to/is most suitable to play? In that highlight reel, i did not see him handle the ball that much, leading me to believe his skills are more attuned to the 3 position.

The problem is that there really are only 3 positions in Buzz's offense.  Center, PG and wing.

Thanks for the link.

He has a nice looking shot and range beyond the three is a must in Buzz's offense.

The kid still has Wade-esque air about him. Must be the ease and control when driving to the hoop.

I'm not going to lie, his body and his moves look like Wade.
When I first read your comment I thought, "come on, only one Wade."  I have to admit though, when I looked at the video I had to agree with you.  That step over and the way he finishes hard from the rim on the side, it really did look like Wade out there.  Good call.  See that Crean was showing interest end of April.
The www.valueaddsports.com analysis of basketball, football and baseball players are intended to neither be too hot or too cold - hundreds immerse themselves in studies of stats not of interest to broader fan bases (too hot), while others still insist on pure observation (too cold).

Damn, too bad.  Indiana is the kind of school that a DeMarcus Croaker would crawl over hot coals to get a scholarship offer from.
