Yeah, really.  Am I the only guy who hasn't received an offer yet?

And a bunch are SGs......

esotericmindguy

Umm, half of those highlights show him donning a wife beater. Is that what he sends to coaches? Maybe him and Reggie Smith can join the And1 tour with their cute dunks.

Marqus Howard

Awesome highlight video, seems to be the athletic, get-out-in-transition guy that Buzz always looks for. He's listed as a small forward, but at 6'3, I would expect him to play SG.

forgetful

My takeaway from the video is that he is very athletic, but needs to work on his left hand.  Almost all his finishes going left ended up being shot with his right hand.

Are you really a jagoff or just play one on the internet?

You know, some of you try to be comedians and recruits do read this stuff and your comments don't represent Marquette well at all. Think about it.

+1....simply lame comment.

Thought esoteric's comment was pretty funny and true.  A highlight vid composed of ~80% dunkage, some of which are staged is pretty worthless.   Indicative of today's b-ball culture though.

I'm not going to lie, his body and his moves look like Wade.

esotericmindguy

Settle down, if mr. Croaker doesn't come here because of a comment on the scoop, then my guess is Marquette is better off. He might be good, but everyone was all giddy over Reggie smith 2 years ago based on some summer ball mix tape. Just sayin.

A couple of the euro-steps he did made me think the same thing.

The dude is an athlete, no doubt about it.  Had a couple of nice pull up jumpers in that vid, but that's about it outside the dunking.  I mean it IS a highlight video, not a scouting video.

Let me guess. With that last name, the cat wants to be a doctor?

Gotta like the athleticism, but I can't imagine this bodes well for Mayo's situation. Still would prefer Nunn.

i guess you could look at it that way, or you could look at it as seeing an extremely athletic kid (as shown in the video) that must be able to do the other stuff at a level that buzz feels is good enough for mu.  players develop well under buzz and this kid certainly seems to have the athleticism to have a high ceiling.

Yeah, 25 years ago nobody was into dunking. They preferred laying the ball gently into the peach basket. That is, when they were stroking a smooth set shot from  distance.
These kids today ....

i thought jake thomas was an old school traditionalist...till i heard he had a put back dunk at the pro-am...i'm assuming his fundamentals and shooting touch are now lost forever.

strotty

I'll go out on a limb and say Buzz did not just watch the YouTube videos and say, "Wow, sweet dunks!" and then offer.

C'mon, fellas.

Blackhat

Dunk opportunities result in a very small percentage of offensive series within a college game of basketball.

I'd rather see pull up jumpers, jumpers rolling/fading off screens, steals, assists, etc. for a highlight video to even begin to be worthwhile as far as evaluating a guy's game.

Croaker seemed to want to put out his And1 skills, staged dunks in wife beaters, etc.   Indicative of what is cool these days but not what I'd put together for a true highlight film.  The dumbing down of basketball is what that highlight film was.

Not going to impress too many basketball coaches and knowledgeable fans.

Sorry, but a layup or midrange jumper is not a highlight. These are highlight videos. Highlights are dunks and crossing somebody over. This is not a recruiting video. Kids don't put their recruiting videos, what they send to college coaches and scouts, on YouTube. Just like college coaches do not go to YouTube to find recruits. They go to games and watch them live and watch their recruiting (not highlight) videos. Highlights are for fans, not coaches. YouTube is to get views, not scholarships.

QuetteHoops

Not to mention it wasn't him that put the highlight video together....

For  simple fans or kids yes I'm sure they like that.  I look at the 50 dunks and go "okay you can jump, what else can you do consistently?"   Not really that impressed with that video.

You could be right, lots of crap on Youtube and maybe Youtube is just for the dunk highlights.

I actually thought the same thing.  Still needs to work on finishing with the left hand though.
