Crest, Sensodyne and Aquafresh to follow.

Hilarious.

Good news is the Pack is on bye that weekend so no fight for fans. The bad news is Sunday is a stupid day to create excitement for an opener.

Is the 9th our game against Ohio St. on the boat?

I can't remember the last time we didn't have a few tune-ups before playing a (most likely) ranked opponent.

Which leads me to think, the game is not signed yet with Ohio State.  MU, has said nothing about it. They just skip it.

MU is then replaced by Notre Dame, and Hiroshima 27 soon follows on this board.

You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

I think that then they wouldn't have even mentioned the date.  I agree that it is a little odd, though.

Correct.  It was just weird how they just gave the date of MU starting on the road Nov. 9th.

"Marquette kicks off the opening round of the Maui Invitational at the Bradley Center against Colgate for its home opener on Sunday, Nov. 11."

This is probably a dumb question but we play the opening round of the Maui Invitational in Milwaukee? What a gyp for Colgate.

It's weird, but it happened last year too with us playing Norfolk State at the Bradley Center as the opening round for the Paradise Jam (then they almost beat us in the final).

Unlike Norfolk St, Colgate will not get a chance to advance to Maui despite the outcome of the game at the Bradley Center.

Didn't we open at Duke in a tourney about 15 or 20 years ago?  Or was that not the first game of the season?

Spotcheck Billy

so is it a "buy game"?

who pays Colgate? Marquette or the Maui Invitational or ESPN?

It goes something like this... teams are only allowed X non-conference games per year... a tournament doesn't count towards that limit.  Having a "mainland" game before the "island" games (as part of the same tournament) therefore allows both MU and Colgate one extra non-con game.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

The Maui invitational has four mainland teams. They play MU, Texas, North Carolina and someone else to open up the tournament. Then they play each other here, why 8 other teams go to Maui. Set up provides the big boys with an extra home game.

Consider MU vs. Colgate an "exhibition" game within the Maui Invitational.  It is part of the tournament, but it isn't part of the bracket.
