Anyone have any idea what our game could be yet? Looks like Gtown gets UK.

I also heard Mizzou, though it sounds like Syracuse might end up with Missouri. If that happens, maybe Marquette at Florida? I know we're getting a road game, and UF was at Syracuse last year, so they're do for one at home.

I was thinking they may try and match UL up with Florida but Id like a Florida or Mizzou game nice marquee match up.

It would have been more fun last year, but Marquette-Mizzou would be such an incredible matchup.

I was just thinking that.  Everyone was looking forward to that Sweet 16 match-up.  Did Mizzou lose a decent amount of talent?

Marquette loses top two scorers, Mizzou loses top 3 scorers (English, M. Denmon, Ratliffe).

Both teams should be top 25 at some point in the season, but that Sweet 16 matchup arguably would have been the Tournament's most exciting game, no exaggeration.

Rooting for South Carolina or Georgia because then I could go to the game. But realize I'll probly be S.O.L.

Bo Ryan wouldn't allow that to happen because Jeronne Maymon played here.

In the database I've got Missouri as the 16th best team in the country next year and one of only three teams in the country with two of the top 40 projected Value Add players in Phil Pressey (projected 12th best) and Michael Dixon (projected 38th best).  In fact, even though I have Marquette slightly higher due to so much more depth, based on Value Add five of the 6 most valuable players on the court would play for Missouri in our game.

A great matchup, but that being said Marquette players seem to progress more quickly than the average in most cases, so I would certainly believe Jamil, Mayo and Blue would actually be better than everyone on Missouri except Pressey and Dixon.
The www.valueaddsports.com analysis of basketball, football and baseball players are intended to neither be too hot or too cold - hundreds immerse themselves in studies of stats not of interest to broader fan bases (too hot), while others still insist on pure observation (too cold).

I should know this, and am a bit embarrassed to ask, but how does value add work for players who haven't played any D-1 ball yet? (H.S. seniors, JUCO newcomers)

I originally thought of Tennessee as well but Im pretty sure their home game against Uconn last year was apart of this challenge, so I doubt they would get a second straight home game.

The game against LSU wont count for the challenge, right?

Also, one BEast team is going to get left out since the SEC has 14 with TAMU and Mizzou and the Big East will only have 15 (16 if Temple is joining...im still not sure how this all is working out).  I doubt MU would be that team, since we have a marquee name, but it is a possibility.

Correct.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

English, M. Denmon, Ratliffe are gone but will have Pressy and Orahki. I was golfing the other day and the kid cleaning my clubs was done  saw my chicken head cover and ask me about MU. He then told me he was a student manager of Mizzou (take it FWIW) and thinks they obviously wont be ranked as high but has a chance to be better than they were last year just like some think (the real) MU can be better with Lockett. I agree last years sweet 16 matchup would have been a thriller and one to remember. Heck, even revenge for Lazar stepping over the line. Hopefully Syracuse doesn't take more from us in that we could end up with a great non-conference game.

If Mizzou and Marquette do meet up, is it UM vs MU? I think the team's letters would confuse people greatly.

It'll be the battle for the MU. Winner keeps the "MU" initials, loser has to get rid of the "M". So Missouri would become "Issouri University" and Marquette would become "Arquette University". Of course, the new IU would likely run afoul of Indiana, while we would have to adopt a new mascot:
