I was thinking the other day that even though Wisconsin is not a total hotbed of talent that Marquette would field a really good team from just their Wisconsin players.  A lot of really good programs have few really good "in state" players (of course, there are exceptions like Texas & Indiana).

They have to be "active" (i.e. still young enough to be good right now) though have used all of their eligibility.  This would be my team.  Have I forgot anyone?

Damon Key, Big Mac, Jim Chones and about ten others start over Merritt.

Agreed as an all time list.  Though looking for guys who could still play.  Maybe Big Mac off the bench would still be reasonable?

Wardle (and McNeal) are from Illinois.

This list is for Wisconsin players.

Benny B

We're talking just MU players from Wisconsin, right?  If so, that's pretty much the list.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

That's right, he's from Hinsdale. I was thinking he was from Brookfield or some such place.

If it's home state, I'd certainly put Devin Harris in there.

Is this an all-time team or a current team? Either way, I'm not sure our team would stack up very well against the rest of the Midwest, much less the country.

If Marquette had to field a team now.  No doubt certain schools would be much better however that isn't too bad a team.  A bet you would be surprised how well we would stack up against certain schools.  A lot a schools get an ever larger percentage of the players from out of state.  Connecticut and Duke come to mind as examples.

WI inferiority Complexes

Is this also players from the state who didn't go to MU (like Devin Harris)?  If so, maybe Reece Gaines on the bench.

It would be interesting to compare the MU in-state player team to the non MU in-state player team.

To the OP, I would suggest a date range.  If you go back to 98-99, I would include Jarrod Lovette.  Likely a backup to Robert Jackson.  Don't know, though, how far back you are going.  I think the original list is pretty solid and comprehensive.

Okay, this idea I originally had is too limiting.  How about the ALL TIME only from Wisconsin but went to Marquette list....

Blackhat

Jarod Lovette.   When he was on and comfortable he was really good.

Darn ... I was really hoping that we could have added Sam Okey to the list.

I'd add that guy Tony Smith from the 80's, the teams he played on stunk, but he was a stud.

Sawsi

I'd definitely put Pieper in their.  He was one of my favorites growing up.
