didnt see I was beat to the punch already

Commits to Iowa.  That sort of blew up in Bo's face.

What's the old saying...Pigs get fat, Hogs see their former player commit to a conference opponent.

Iowa has a bright future

So he redshirted, now has to sit out 2 years due to Big 10 rules? Poor kid will end up with 2 years of eligibility when all is said and done. Really curious decision.

Agreed. Very strange. He would still have three years of eligibility after the two red-shirt years, no?

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

I don't think so. You get 5 years to complete 4 years of eligibility. They usually only grant a 6th year if it's injury related. 1 year redshirting, 2 years sitting out for the in-conference transfer, that leaves him with only 2 years on the clock. He'd need a waiver just to play a third year.

Didn't something happen to keep the Big Ten rule from applying when Ben Burst went from Iowa to Wisconsin?  Could Iowa (and Uthoff) have reason to think that Uthoff will get some sort of waiver?
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Bo restricted the entire Big Ten in the end. Uthoff has to pay his own way for a year and then sit out another year as a result. Odd choice for the kid to make.

kmwtrucks

I think he has to pay this year but not next.

GGGG

Yeah he only has to sit out a year.  He has to pay his way for that year.  But its in-state tuition and who knows what kind of $$ the family has.  Even a student loan can be paid back within a couple years playing pro ball somewhere.

Big Papi

He sits out one year no matter where he goes.  And big deal, so he has to pay for one year of school and joins 95% of the normal student body where the parents pay or they take out a loan.

He wanted to play close to home.  In his eyes its a small price to pay.  He probably loses a year of eligibility on the back end but he probably doesn't view that as a big negative.  He will have his degree and be playing pro ball somewhere by then.

Nukem2

in the final analysis, Uthoff was the "player to be named later" in the Brust deal..... :D

icheights

Only has to sit out 1 year and will have 3 full years of eligibility after that...I am a die hard Hawkeye fan as well as Golden Eagle fan and I am ecstatic to see Jarrod get ~6 opportunities to kick Bo's ass..

And the Hawkeyes are a very up and coming basketball program, watch out because they are poised for a comeback to the national scene
