Per his travel-team coach, look for Marquette to make a strong push for Onalaska junior Matt Thomas.

Mark Miller just tweeted this. Any thoughts?

Seems like a lights out shooter.... Haven't seen him play other than some highlights. Not sure on his athleticism level as his mixtape hasn't dropped yet.

State tourney highlights..

Also 100% chance this thread dissolves into something other than talking about Matt Thomas.

How's the fishing in Onalaska?

Otule's Glass Eye

McKay looks like the next Jamil cant pass him up.

seakm4

We're just going after him to bench him and restrict him from transferring to Wisconsin.

This is very interesting because MU showed initial interest in Matt, then a few months back, Mark Miller stated that MU had dropped out of the picture, and here we are back in the picture frame.  Buzz is certainly hedging against losing backcourt players.

Please, Please don't let it be Mayo!!!
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Why would it be Mayo?

Cause Larry & Father P hate being good at basketball

Matt is a very good shooter, but he's got more to his game. I'll guess Iowa St for him, but he's a solid player

Just seems like Buzz is looking at a lot of guards.

If you ain't a point guard and you ain't a center, you're a switchable. Jamail Jones ain't a point guard and he ain't a center. Matt Thomas ain't a point guard and he ain't a center.

He is a lights-out shooter.

Athleticism won't be a problem with Thomas. Held his own just fine with Minnesota recruit Ellenson when they played in the sectional semifinal.

Iowa State has been the favorite to this point, but MU has never really shown anything more than token interest 'til now. Don't think he'll make his decision 'til something like end of July/early August, as the Playmakers final tourney is the final weekend of July in Vegas. The dream school remains Duke and in his only previous time playing with Krzyzewski in attendance he played poorly.

While I think he'd be better suited to being a 2 at the next level, he's been bringing the ball up the floor in big spots for his HS team for two years, so ballhandling won't be an issue, either. I think he could play the 1 at the next level if necessary. Probably would have brought the ball up the floor in big spots for his HS team as a freshman, too, but the starting 1 that year was a four-year player who was probably the best 3-sport athlete at the school in the last 15 years. That kid is now an all-conference centerfielder and leadoff hitter at a D2 school in Iowa who may play in the Northwoods League this summer.
GO WARRIORS!
