Milwaukee Red Cross Told To Prep For Chicago Evacuation During NATO Summit

http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2012/04/25/milwaukee-red-cross-told-to-prep-for-chicago-evacuation-during-nato-summit/

CHICAGO (CBS) – Is there a secret plan to evacuate some residents of Chicago in the event of major trouble during the NATO summit next month? CBS 2 has uncovered some evidence that there is. It comes from the Milwaukee area branch of the American Red Cross.

CBS 2 News has obtained a copy of a Red Cross e-mail sent to volunteers in the Milwaukee area.

It said the NATO summit “may create unrest or another national security incident. The American Red Cross in southeastern Wisconsin has been asked to place a number of shelters on standby in the event of evacuation of Chicago.”

According to a chapter spokesperson, the evacuation plan is not theirs alone.

“Our direction has come from the City of Chicago and the Secret Service,” she said.

Completely disagree.......I can name 3 breweries in Chicago (Goose, Revolution and Half Acre) that trump any beer in made in Milwaukee.
But I like to throw handfuls...

Funny you should mention Goose Island. Do you know it's brewed in upstate NY? That's what it says on the bottle, anyway. Hilarious.

I think Lakefront has some worthy brews, though the one I'd say trumps all of them is at Water Street Brewery. Unfortunately, they don't bottle to stores, but you can get growlers at the locations to take home which has about 4 pints worth in them. Their Bavarian Hefeweizen is one of the most delicious beers I've ever had.

Yes, 312 is made in Baldwinsville, NY to free up capacity at the Fulton St. Brewery so Goose can make 4x the Matilda (and the rest of the Vintage Ales) and Bourbon County Stout that was made in 2011. Fair trade if you ask me.

Good to know. I've only had 312! (Which is a pretty good beer.)

are you serious? IMO, Water Street's brews are weak tasting/made for the masses and not even to be compared to Lakefront/Bells/Founders/New Glarus aka real beers - heck, Rock Bottom makes better beer than Water St. - we're gonna have to agree to disagree on this one

Isn't that how Milwaukee started anyway?  Just a spill-over population coming from Chicago?

Time to get that toll station up at the border, WI.

Blatz is still made in Milwaukee, no?

Pabst owns the brand, and contracts with Miller to produce it.  Not sure if it's actually brewed in Milwaukee or at another one of Miller's brewery locations.

Typical Chicago... the fat, smelly teenager who gets his kicks bullying 3rd graders.

Honestly, I would hope that Chicago - with a population that nearly exceeds the combined state population of Wisconsin and Minnesota - could find at least a dozen beers that could trump Milwaukee.  Too bad, however, that even the mediocre stuff brewed in the Twin Cities causes the entire Chicago brew-populous to tuck tail.
Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

Weird that the best beer in the country comes from Munster, IN. Does that mean Munster> Chicago > Milwaukee > Minnesota?

How tough is it to brew the best beer in county that Munster is in?   Pretty small sample.

Ask a simple question and this is the result.

PTM your a prick. Plain and simple. Just wait till a better beer comes from the county that Munster is in. Then hopefully you disappear from the board and never return

Which mediocre TC stuff? Surly? I really wouldn't say the stuff Omar does is mediocre at all.

Debatable. FFF does one thing extremely well and world class, use Citra / Amarillo hops very well to produce a line a beers which displays them perfectly - no arguing that. But when they step out of that boundary, the beer isn't nearly as good IMO.

To tie in the original post, I'd sooner go to Munster, IN or Warrenville, IL to hit up Two Brothers (The most spotless brewery I've ever been to) than hit the road for Milwaukee.
