Does the anniversary of Hiroshima fall on a Friday this year?

No but the anniversary of Pearl Harbor is on a Friday.

Friday afternoon seems to be the time to let bad news slip out for the Marquette Sports Information folk.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

I think so.  Kendrick Nunn, Jameel McKay and a few 2013 big men including Phillip Nolan could all use that scholarship, and maybe another, should one open up.

totally forgot about McKay we need him

hiroshima begins?

No, no Hiroshima yet.  You seem to be really looking forward to that.  Hiroshima II (according to muguru) will happen when this board reacts to the reasons behind a player or players who do not want to leave being forced to transfer.

mostly because i just want to get it over with. i know the boards are ripe with speculation in the off-season, but it's tiresome. i wonder if jamail was the forced transfer or if that will be another one (if another one occurs)?

Dodds said on the other board that JJ wanted to transfer last year, but was talked out of it.  So I doubt this was forced.

Heh...it was on the free site.  And he got on me for referencing Scoop on that site asking me if I ever did the reverse.

Well now I have.

Durley and Jones both not being here next year means 2 open schollies, Lockett will take 1 with one being left for next year and since Otule apparently gets his 6th year then there's 1 for 2013. Don't think we should get someone for next year cuz then the last 2013 schollie is gone. Think we should hold the extra schollie for McKay. EDIT: wait I forgot that Lockett doesn't use a schollie since he is graduating right?

Speaking of sharks, did you see it was Friday afternoon and decide to cyber circle around the Marquette Athletic Department?

I'm on Kuykendal's press release email list. I was at my computer when it arrived and had scoop open in another tab, so I just did a bit of copying/pasting. I guess that makes me a shark of low hanging fruit.

Too bad I don't win a prize for this pick.  :D

I saw this coming for the past year.

Sad thing is if Juan's role doesn't increase the same thing could happen. He and jones are both in similar situations guys far from home without any PT.

If the 12 in your name means that you're graduating this year from law school, be sure and put the shark part on your resume, it helps.

I feel much better about Juan than I did about Jamil.  I just do.  Maybe it was Jamail's nickname.  It also seemed to me that Juan was ahead of Jamail this year, even tho Juan was the freshman.  That being the case, I'm not surprised to see Jamail go.  He was a class act.

That might be true, but I dont see it. I think the writing on the wall that Juan had jumped him made this decision that much easier for Jamail.

Really too bad things didn't work out. I always really liked Jamail and thought he showed flashes in his limited time. Hard to ever get anything going when you dont play. I think he'll be a really nice piece for someone. Nothing but good things to say about the guy.

Moving forward, what does the collection of possible one year players look like? Obviously Lockett is at the top of that list, but is there anyone else that could be available to take a schollie this year then open it up next year?

Totally different situations.  Juan started the year behind, got suspended, and still ended up playing more.

He had to wake up from his mid afternoon nap.

This one was known for some time... good luck, Jamail

Would be fun to bring in Matt Roth for one year

Best of luck to Jamail.

I hope he finds his shot somewhere and catches on nicely.

Juan has a higher upside, IMO. Jamail was being relied on for his range, but Juan has more skills.
