There you go. Chum to the sharks:

Milwaukee – Sophomore forward Jamail Jones has been granted his release from the Marquette University men's basketball team and intends to transfer to another program, head coach Buzz Williams announced Friday afternoon.

In two seasons with the Golden Eagles, Jones averaged 1.6 points and 1.3 rebounds per game in 46 career appearances.  His lone start came this past season at West Virginia.  The 6-6, 210-pounder shot 33.7 percent from the floor, 22.5 percent from behind the 3-point line and 60.0 percent from the charity stripe in 7.5 minutes per night.

"We are thankful for Jamail's investment of time, energy, and his character during his time with us," Williams said.  "Everyone in our program will miss him greatly and wish him the absolute best as he pursues his academic and basketball career. We will all be cheering for his success."

Good luck, JJones.   I am sorry it didn't work out for you.   I hope you find a good fit.

Is it 5 o'clock yet?

Good luck to Jamail.

Blackhat

Good luck Jamail!

Not everyone can play a lot and when you recruit at a high level then transfers will happen.

Wade for President

Was a big Jamail fan.  He was one of the most supportive guys off the bench.  Had trouble finding his stride.  Wish him the best!

MUMac

Did Buzz put the Big East, ACC, Big 10 and Iowa State on the restricted list?  Or did Buzz have a realationship with Jamail that was civil and Jamail actually would talk with Buzz so that is not necessary?

MUfan12

Hope he finds a good place where he can see the court more often.

nyg

Not suprising.  Never lived up to his "shooter" recruiting and his statistics confirmed it.  He was ranked #52 recruit in one service, probably had potential, but never stepped it up.  With incoming recruits/transfers, he would remain at the end of the bench, cheering team on. Will be an asset to probably a mid major program and wish the young fella good luck.  Seemed like he never complained and was a good teamate.

GGGG

Not surprising....waiting until Friday afternoon to release the information.

So now we have two slots for 2012...one for 2013.

All schools in Florida and Georgia are on the list.

Blackhat

Kid definitely had a great attitude.

No word from Enlund yet on JS web site.  How can that be?

Lennys Tap

Great kid, great teammate, best of luck in his future - basketball and otherwise.

Yep.  Agree on all counts.  Really pulled hard for him.  Hope he succeeds whereever he ends up.  Always had a smile and always seemed to be a class act!

Have a feeling this is truly best for all involved. I liked Mellow but he wasn't looking likely to break the rotation. Hopefully he'll find somewhere with more available time for him.

I am not privy to any insider information, but I am not surprised, as the kid must want to play by now.  I think he'll be a nice player for someone who is willing to put him on the floor and let him play.  I wish him the best.  He always seemed like a great kid.

OK, so if Lockett signs on, that would leave one for 2012.  Then Lockett would be open slot for 2013.

Now, with the Lockett transfer, who would provide leadership, maturity, etc., should Buzz save the 2012 slot for 2013, with all the quality 2013 recruits out there?

Speaking of sharks, did you see it was Friday afternoon and decide to cyber circle around the Marquette Athletic Department?
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

I think so.  Kendrick Nunn, Jameel McKay and a few 2013 big men including Phillip Nolan could all use that scholarship, and maybe another, should one open up.
