Now that we convinced Fr. P and LW to keep Buzz on as our head coach  ;) ...KEEP THOSE EMAILS COMING and let's get this name changed back to WARRIORS!

Good, let's see if this one can get up to 1,000 pages.  In an hour.

Warrior_2002

Ah no thanks.  Love the Warrior name, but don't want to get stuck with the Marquette Calming Blues (couldn't be "the Fighting" or "Blue Crush" too violent) or something.  This administration may not trick us into...eh em...give us a chance of getting Golden Eagles back.

No, you, or anyone else who emailed, had ZERO to do with any of this.

AND STOP.  JUST STOP IT WITH THIS CRAP.

Disagree.  It's always good for the customers to speak with management, give them feedback.  It's equally important that management know they serve the customers and not themselves.

People like to laugh at those who sent emails but I just received a response from Buzz.  Class guy... couldn't be more proud he's our coach and the most visible representative of Marquette.  I hope he's here until he retires, I know the alumni want him to outlast the administration!

I actually didn't send a single email to either of those men, or any BOT members. Was just trying to add some humor, bring up an old, tired subject. Sorry I hurt your feelings, labwarrior. Loosen up a bit.

Niv Berkowitz

I got an emailnback from buzz tonight. Dont care if it was copied and pasted to everyone who wrote him. Very nice gesture.

Blackhat

Received the email too.   Pretty awesome, some good wisdom from Buzz.

Chicos' Buzz Scandal Countdown

Mind posting for those of us who didn't write him to see?

MilWarrior

Never got one back from Larry. I guess season tickets and donations from alumni  aren't that important to him. Lucky for him that Buzz is sticking around.

Thank you for taking time to email. I genuinely appreciate it!

Success in life has nothing to do with what you gain and accomplish for yourself. It's really what you do for others that matter. God judges a leader not by the numbers that are led, but by the numbers that are served.

We have been a weekend shy the last two years of where we all want to be, but we will be accountable for our work, and continue to do our best to improve. The work always happens in the silence- Its found in your daily discipline. We have a lot to accomplish between now and next November.

On behalf of our entire program, we are grateful for your true support. That is one of the reasons this is a special place.

Again, I appreciate your kind words.

"The Lord Bless you and Keep you: The Lord make his face shine on you, and be gracious to you." Numbers 6:24-25

Is marquette the type of institution, or, more importantly, is this  administration the type that would never want or let a coach become bigger than the university?

Fr Raynor, God rest his soul, often remarked that few knew his name but everyone in America knew that Al McGuire was the coach at Marquette.

I read a bio of Bobby Kennedy by Ted Sorensen. I recall him writing that in the summer of 1968 only two white men could safely walk the streets of Harlem or Bed Sty at night - Bobby Kennedy and Al McGuire. We all know of Al but he was truly a special man.

Never heard that. Great line.

That is why some of us have different opinions than you. AL was bigger than university and worked out quite well. Different time today but Buzz is the face of the school. I'll take my chances on him using his best judgement on behavior.

Niv Berkowitz

If Buzz is bigger than the school, so effing what AS LONG AS people have a high/positive opinion of him. If he has that, the positive vibe carries over to the school.

You're right.

Maybe the recent Penn State stuff has jaded me. The worship in that culture was so insane that they couldn't see what was right in front of them.

Well, just because more people knew his name, that doesn't make him bigger than the University.

Honestly, how different do you think Marquette would be if Al never came here?

Well, we would not be in the Big East and the mens and womens bball teams would still be in the Old Gym. Chances are i would never have applied because living in NY, I would never have heard of the small Jesuit school in Milwaukee.  Other than that....

Well, MU played in the MECCA before Al was coach.  Honestly, we'd probably be like Xavier or SLU....less prestigious in basketball, more of a regional focus, but still a good school.

This is one time I need to disagree with you. What Al meant to the school is probably above and beyond what any of us will ever know. The main is still omni present at the school and program 35 years after retiring and 10 years after his death. The one man play AL is currently playing in Milwaukee. The landscape of the school was enhanced so much by that one man. Would bet some on here never would have attended MU if Al was not there. You can count me on the list that picked MU because Al made it the coolest place out there.

Look, I have no doubt that Al is famous and revered and was hugely important to Marquette.  However, Al McGuire was not "bigger than Marquette University." And frankly, he'd be pissed if you said so.  Marquette would still be a damn fine school...again, not on the same level it is now, but a damn fine school nevertheless.

It better be dam good...my youngest son starts there in the Fall, to be followed by my daughter. This guy bwill be writing them tuition checks for the next five years. But, I do get your point.
