Here in NC where I live, Barnes is feeling personally responsible for UNC failing to beat Kansas. Some in the media, including outstanding TV analyst Steve Kerr, called him out, too. He wasn't very good against Ohio, either.

Here you have a 5-star recruit -- he'd have been a 10-star recruit, if there was such a thing -- who had his choice of any college in the land. And yet, when his team needed him most, he couldn't deliver.

Not saying I wouldn't have wanted him. Not saying he didn't help UNC get to a top seed. Not saying this excuses Jae, DJO and any other big-timers who picked the wrong time to slump.

Just saying it happens to the best of 'em.

Oh, and Roy Williams couldn't figure out how to beat Kansas' triangle-and-two, and UNC was outscored 12-0 down the stretch. So even the supposed best coaches choke, too.

Tough to say when they lost 2 kids to season ending knee injuries (1 starter) and their starting point guard, who led the nation in assists, was hurt for their last 2 tournament games, that Barnes is to blame or that Roy Williams is to blame.  They faced a number of unfortunate injuries and their team just wasn't what it would have been without the injuries.  Plus the timing of Marshall's injury was horrible.  They had no time at all to adjust.

Yeah, UNC's offense looked very slow with Stilman White at the controls.  Obviously UNC did not have time to adapt to Marshall's abscence.  No different for MU when Otule went down as MU lost to LSU and Vandy before Wilson and Gardner filled their new roles.  MU was also out of synch for a couple games when Gardner went down.

Not assessing blame. Just saying that one of the biggest recruits in the country, an unquestionably outstanding player who will go very high in the draft, couldn't carry his team when it needed carrying. He had the ball. He had the shots he wanted. He couldn't hit them.

Similar to the case for Marquette vs. Florida. There were many reasons we lost, but if the two stars had each been able to hit a couple more shots ...

Guess I'm saying that it isn't always easy being the BMOC!

I guess the main difference is that North Carolina has a half-dozen 5-star recruits, a front line that is all-AC, at least 2 and maybe 3 lottery picks and a Hall of Fame head coach.

Henson is a soft punk.

If (when?) he goes to the NBA, he and Kevin Garnett should get together.  That would be an awesome slap fight complete with menacing scowls and no real threat of violence.

When they lost their point guards and had to rely on a third teamer, they lost it.

Barnes will get over it soon when he is a top 5 pick.  Nice of him to admit some of the blame though, shows class.
