At first I was surprised about all the "Frank Martin to x" talk (Katz also reported he was, or at least should be interested in Miss St).  But then after thinking about it, he seems like a guy who wears out his welcome pretty quickly. Gets pretty good results as both a coach and recruiter, but I think a fanbase/athletic dept can only see him scream at people like they just killed his mother on nat'l tv for so long. I wouldn't be surprised if he coaches at 3-5 middle-of-the-road BCS schools before his career is over.

Sounds like there was friction between Martin and the KSU AD.

Frank is pissed about the suspension of Jamar Samuels.

Getting so pissed off just scares people.  If he wants to get his way he should spend a couple years as an assistant under Boeheim to learn the art of whining.

KSU job > SMU job

This.  If Buzz wants to leave a better job just opened up.

Isn't Buzz pretty close with Frank Martin? That may be a hitch, although if this were all about anger, then I'd think he'd be much more likely to go to KSU than SMU. I'm just hoping this might be tempers running hot and they are able to work it out.

KSU job > SMU job

Any of you guys ever been to Manhattan Kansas?  It makes Milwaukee look like New York City.

Better than Marquette?  Uh, no.

Better than SMU?  Meh; I guess.

What? Kansas State is a horrible job. I'd take SMU over that job every day of the week

I'm pretty objective about these things, and I don't know how anybody could think Kansas State or SMU would be better college basketball coaching jobs than Marquette. Illinois, one could argue, though I'd say it's a lateral move at best.

Wonder if Frank Martin regrets turning down Miami last year.  I'd think he'd rather be there than SC.  Then again, I could not see him working with Donna Shalala.

The kid took $200 from his AAU coach.....Pretty cut and dry to me.....

How did the AAU coach have access and "please" coach the players on not accepting any gifts and you would not have this problem.....

I know it happenned at MU also with Juan.....so.....it does get thru the cracks....

I can not even imagine what is going on with that Center out of Boston that is "up" for bid right now.....

Kentucky will have to pay "large" for that one......

+1...much more $$$ at SMU.

SMU is a religious school, in Texas, in a major metropolitan area, and has deep pockets. In terms of being a good fit for Buzz, SMU seems more up his alley. Regardless, it sounds like their flirtation is over, and I'm pretty confident we won't have to worry about any other poachers this summer.
