The Man in Gold

From the St. Paul Pioneer Press:

If Trevor Mbakwe, the 6-8 St. Bernard's basketball star who has committed to Marquette, doesn't pass his college eligibility test, he will need to attend prep school or junior college, and that could leave him available to Minnesota in a year or two.

Any truth to this rumor?

Captain, We need more sweatervests!  TheManInGold has been blinded by the light (off the technicolor sweatervest)

If he doesn't pass his test, everything is opened up again. So be it. If he can't handle the academics, he's going to have eligibility issues even WHILE AT Marquette.

There was a reports months ago that he scored high enough on the qualifying tests to get in, but that he needed to raise his grades, which I believe is part of the reason why he transfered High Schools.

This seems to be a case of a reporter stirring the pot for no reason.

He was interviewed for one of those recruiting websites/magazines and I thought he mentioned that he transferred to his current school to get him in more of a "study" mindset.  My impression was that he was fine, grade-wise, and that he moved to his current school to further challenge himself academically and help him get more prepared for college academics.  I'll have to find that article...
