Does anybody know the best place or airline to catch to find a flight from Chicago to Phoenix. Right now roundtrip tickets are going for around $850 and would not like to spend that much. Thanks.

Warrior1

Southwest seems to have flights from Milwaukee from around 500.

KC_Warrior

Try Allegiant air.  They fly from Rockford to Mesa Az, a PHX suburb.

I live in Phoenix so if anybody needs help getting the lay of the land, please let me know.

Looking forward to a fun week!

Something I've done to check all the airlines in the past that may not be the major travel sites is to go to the airport's website, see what airlines fly in and out of there, and then check the ones that won't be on expedia, etc.  also check the nearby airports, as was suggested in one of the prior responses.
You could also try posting on the tripadvisor air travel forum for suggestions.

Just note that the Mesa airport is quite far from downtown. Rental car is necessary. Phoenix doesn't have very good mass transit.

Try O'Hare and Midway as alternates.  i was checking for New Orleans tix and it was a few hundred less out of ORD.

Flying in Sat and out Tues is super expensive. 17 hours driving... gotta do whatever it takes if it happens. Can't make it to Phoenix.

WellsstreetWanderer

Try flying through Las vegas. many flights and a short hop to PHX

CoachRaymondsClass

dw3x3 and any others considering driving. NOT 17 hours.

It is a roughly 28-29 hour drive of 1900 miles (Departing @ roughly IL/WI border Int 94 Tollway and arriving wherever in PHX metro which is sprawling).

Just did it and have done it before... 17 hours will get you to Amarillo TX @ 11 pm if you start @ 6 am. Then 11 - 12 hours to PHX via Flagstaff. 2 hour time difference now because AZ doesn't do daylight savings.

Hope this is helpful

I think dw3x3 was referring to driving to New Orleans.
Don't put the cart before the horse.  One game at a time.

Flights to Tucson were closer to $500. 2 hour drive to Phoenix from Tucson. Not ideal, but not terrible.

augoman

trying to help friends get out here for games and wed-sunday very pricey.  tues-monday better, but filling up fast.

warrior 4ever re dw3x3 driving:

As per the thread subject about travel to Phoenix, my assumption was a Milwaukee/Chicago drive to Phoenix . Maybe was wrong about my assumption for dw3x3's starting point (assumed a high # of readership/MU alums-fans in Milw/Chi), but wanted readers to know that the drive was a lot more than 17 hours for sure - more like 29 hours.

What was your New Orleans comment about?? you can drive that in about 15 -16 hours from Chi start

Check out MKE/ORD to TUCSON!  Cheaper flights.  Rent a car.  100+ mile drive on I-10 to Phoenix.

madtownwarrior

did you actually look up the flight costs - no difference in fares and add on $30* 4 days car rental...

coach, dw talked about flying Saturday and Tuesday, which only makes sense for the FF, not for Phoenix.  Also referenced a previous poster who said was checking prices for New Orleans.  Hence my thought that he was talking about driving to NO.  I may be wrong, of course.

dw3dw3dw3

Yes.. that is correct... players shouldn't look ahead, but fans can!
