anyone able to share this?

Wow.  Goosebumps the entire video.  I love Buzz.

QuetteHoops

He talked about people jumping off the junior bandwagon...says you guys talking about "we need a point guard".

Good for Junior I've never lost faith in him.

National Champs

Alright, who's printing the tie dye "faith, hope, and love" t-shirts with Buzz's picture on them.

Not patting myself on the back but same. I love the guy and how his vision is always the superior to anyone else on the court. He will always be the guy left out of the conversation on paper but he means the world to this team. Ive always felt the most comfortable with the ball in his hands despite the recent bumps. Go Junior, go MU!

Who asked the question that set Buzz off about Jr?

chapman

Loved DJO's reaction to being asked if things might have "opened up" for them after the Mizzou loss.  Still locked in, they will not act like they're the favorite next game.

WOW - Buzz is waaaaay out there on this presser.  His answers were meandering all over the place, like he had a little too much cough syrup. The Junior answer was in response to a Todd question. Tough to follow, but certainly makes him more likable. However, if this was the first time I ever heard Buzz answer questions, I'd think he's a little loopy.

Just finished it - yes, Buzz needs the nap he requested at the end.  Better, some good sleep in the next couple days around the initial preparation for Thursday - he's on empty.  Given his meticulous scheduling, it's probably good that they're going out west and gaining a couple extra hours, hopefully he uses it for some rest to stay sharp.

Did you ever hear Al answer a question?  Different as well.  when he was done, you were left trying to remember the subject of the question.

Faith, hope and love, and the greatest of these is love.  Awesome.

The ball screen answer was great as well.  The Louisville game had to be extremely instructive for this game.  In watching the Louisville game, I remember thinking that L'ville was getting a lot of rebounds because Jr, Todd and other guards were trying to block out their bigs on rebounds -- they got caught in the blender with the ball screens and ended with bad rebounding matchups.  That was an issue in this game as well and fixed it well enough to get the W.

RubyWiscy

Yup. Coach is on empty. Go get some rest Buzz.  We love you and we (at least I) am learning to never doubt what you are about with your teams.  Character revealed.

Wondered that, too...the way he answered it made me think it was an MU Trib writer.

Man, what a presser. Watched it twice. I don't watch other teams' pressers but can't imagine they are as much about character like Buzz's are.

That was me, and he really wasn't "set off," if you mean it in a negative sense. He knows plenty of people wrote off Todd, and some did it to Junior after Louisville. He wasn't upset at the question, if that's what you were implying.

If you look at the 5:35 mark of that video, Buzz is tearing up after Todd's answer about how much Marquette plays. I think Todd has grown up a lot in the past four months, and I wrote about it.

GB Warrior

That entire video gave me the chills. He is an incredible coach and human being, and he's in it for the right reasons. If you need any comfort that he's with Marquette for the long haul, this video is it. I'm so proud he's ours.

Buzz, someone on his staff or the players are reading this board. "We need a point guard" was a direct quote from this board.  I hate that they are even reading some of the "poison" that people spit out here.

No, no...your question was fine but I definitely picked up on a sense of defiance from Buzz, not to you directly but to the idea that people are fair weather fans and wrote Todd and Junior off for a bad game or having a cold shooting spell. And I agree they are seeing this board...first Buzz quotes the "we need a new point guard", then Jae says "pee down our legs"...they're seeing this. I guessed it was an MU Trib writer because Buzz said "you guys are saying 'we need a new point guard'" and I immediately made the connection between that and a thread on this board with that exact title.

Exactly...and all the people who will likely write off Vander (again) after an admittedly poor game.  Buzz has 1,000 times more faith in his guys than anyone on this board, including myself.

We should learn from this.

That is a fact, they do monitor these boards.  I have no idea if the "we need a point guard" was a direct reference to here, but they do monitor the boards.

Wow.  I've watched that presser 3 times now.  Love it.  Here's a quick transcript of some of the best parts (which I typed up to send to a Baylor fan to show Buzz >>>>> Drew).  The part where he talks about the trust/love he has in the team was phenomenal as well.

It's gotta be about more than winning and losing.  ...and when you see kids grow and mature.  Especially when all the... um... maybe the perspective of who they are is not really who they are... and so... um... that's why I got in the business and that's why I'm still in the business... and I think that's special.  <interrupts next question> Faith, hope, and love and the greatest of these is love and a lot of these kids have never been loved.  ..and when you've never been loved and you're 20 years old and somebody tries to love you for the first time you don't know how to handle it.  ...and when you start talking about God for the first time, and when you think about what those kids have been through in the previous 20 years, they're not sure there is a God.  So when you start talking about love and you start talking about God and you're with kids every single day and you do it for about 150 days and they get up here and speak – which is a lot harder than you think – to people that they don't know and they use the same words that you use, it means you're helping their life.  That's what it means.
....
I'm not worried about TV.  Not worried about the crowd.  Not worried about the pageantry or the ambience of what the tournament is about.  Humbled by it all.  Extremely grateful for my wife... and the sacrifices that she makes.  ...and for our four children, growing as sons and daughters of coaches.  It's very volatile and extremely emotional.  A country kid that just hung in there.  Hang in there - hang in there - hang in there - throw a good pitch - throw a good pitch.  The butcher, the baker, the candlestick maker.  Show up and go to work – and do it every day.  No matter what's surrounding ya.  That's really hard, man.  You gotta be a lion chaser to be married to me.  She's tougher than all them kids that we play with.  It's really humbling... really humbling.  Next question.

A great part of the press conference was Buzz chiming in with "Let Todd answer it"  Buzz knew the size of the moment and that his freshman might defer to the seniors.  It was great that TM got a seat at the table despite a couple mistakes and to hear what MU means to him.  He's a big part of our future and for Buzz to include him should be a great boost to his confidence.
