Not surprising to me at all.  With as hard as we are recruiting Clarke, Theodore, Shumpert, and the like.  We also could use a big.  Williams stock has really fallen while the aforementioned guards has shot up.  Have watched Williams play afew times and have been unimpressed. Great athlete but not very skilled.

Williams, a Marquette commit, played well also. Despite struggling in the early games with his jumper, Nick played to his strengths with his energy and scored on a number of follows and chippies.

Nick did have had his jumper working against Team Florida, making three J's from deep, while continuing to take the ball strong to the hole on his way to 18 points in a blowout victory. Despite his early commitment to the Golden Eagles, Williams is still listening to overtures from Florida State, Ole Miss, Miss State, Oklahoma, Cincinnati, Florida, Alabama and Auburn. Stay tuned!

Mark Miller from Wisconsin Basketball Yearbook called Williams and his dad today, and they said Nick's verbal is solid.  No story there.

That's great news!  Thanks for sharing!  Now let's get Nick back to recruiting JaMychal Green to MU!

Just to clarify, I spoke with Nick Williams' high school coach, Otis Hughley, and he said Nick remained "solid" with his commitment to Marquette.

Until he steps on the BC court I will have visions of LeDaryl.

Do you feel that way about every recruit, or just Nick Williams?

Mostly long distance recruits and guys who commit so early.  I never had any worries of DJ, Wes, Jerel, Dameon, Wade, ODB, Travis but 15 year old out of Alabama gives me great pause

I just don't get that enamored with recruiting nationally.

Mark,
Is Nick closer with his HS coach or AAU?  I'm just wondering who he'd be more candid with.

Fair enough and you are probably right.

AZWarrior

From The Sporting News, Super 98: #95 Nick Williams - Although 6'4", Williams jump shot probably isn't reliable enough for him to project as a shooting guard.  He is viewed as more of a scorer than a shooter, an excellent athlete with toughness and a taste for defense.  He uses his strength to survive as an inside player for his high school team but will move comfortably to the wing with he suits up for Marquette.
All this talk of rights.  So little talk of responsibilities.

glad we didnt recruit wade based on his jump shot
You heard it here first. Davante Gardner will be a Beast this year.
