I wonder if our Nancy knows why Greenland was called "GREENland" in the first place.  She might want to look that up to understand what she's talking about before going down this path.

Also, https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/gl.html tells me that it is 81% ice-capped.

I always heard that Greenland and Iceland were misnamed on purpose to attract or steer away settlers. Turns out, that might not be just an urban legend!

Nathan, when Greenland was discovered it was after the little Ice Age and much less of the country was covered with ice then it is now....oh the irony.  In fact, scientists have found the remains of farmers and their farming implements where there are now glaciers indicating that for at least some time period farmers were farming in areas that are now completing covered in ice.

Basically, the climate changes, always has, always will whether we are here or not, it will ALWAYS change.


I had to laugh at today's story from the MoscowTimes in which now Sergei Mironov believes the world is cooling (as do some other scientists).  Simply put, none of these guys knows what the hell is truly going on and now that it has been politicized so much no one can believe any of this crap.  When you politicize science we've lost all credibility as people.  When one group is ostracizing scientists who dare question whether humans are causing thing and claiming the science is conclusive and the argument is over...well B.S.   The entire idea of science is to seek answers and truths, so why would anyone on the scientific side say the debate is over?  They wouldn't...but the politicians sure do which speaks volumes of how they know nothing of the scientific process.
