Im starting to think Id rather play Iona. BYU when they are not playing dumb and trying to force things have much more of an inside out attack with some size and pretty much everyone on the floor can shoot it when they move it around.

Get on your horse fellas!!!

Kinda of looks like a Marquette game with the speed and big runs each way......let's hope for a great game in rd2 Thursday night.  Go Marq!!

BTW - what the heck is a "gael" anyways?  Something quick I would guess

Iona sure looked good for the first 15 minutes, but in reality, both of these teams suck.

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

Thinking the same. I know I'll get some grief for saying this, but BYU looks like a more traditional team (I guess for more than one reason). Iona seems a little more gimmicky to me and if we take them out of what they like to do, they are lost. They look a lot less daunting when you aren't watching their best  half of school history.

Where BYU has some longer athletic guys in Davies and #34 (Horslock or something). They also seem to be decent in the half-court. I would pressure the heck out of Carlino. Granted, the Badgers beat BYU pretty soundly.

I'm feeling much calmer during this second half.

A gael is a person of gaelic descent.

Iona is just terrible inside and BYU finally got the clue.

Slow it down, pass around the perimeter and then inside.  If no shot, kick it out.

Carlino and that other BYU PG are good, not like Machado, but good.

Iona shots are coming up short, they are tired.

This has been the best night of basketball watching I've had in a while.  I really didn't expect to enjoy myself this much tonight :)

And they aren't even the only Gaels in the tournament... Saint Mary's is as well

Whoever wins .. this game finishes around midnight.   38 hours later, they are playing MU, minus two nights of sleep, minus travel to Louisville.

I'm still hoping for at least one OT...

Iona is really quick, but I'm not convinced they're very good at basketball.

I am in on that too.  Iona has scored 15 points in the second half and looks beat.  What a comeback by BYU.

Changed my mind, I want Iona.

Byu would have already won it if they could make a free throw

You'd think out of all fan bases, we would be the one not to overreact to  the first 15 minutes of a game.

For shame, everyone.

Me too. BYU can use this same strategy they used vs Iona against us to make it a close game.

brewcity77

I can't remember ever seeing a team have a 40-point disparity between halves like Iona has had tonight. Even in some of these tale of two halves Marquette games over the past few years, nothing like this.

nyg

I would suspect BYU will zone MU tomorrow.  To say the least it was very, very effective in the second half against Iona.

What a strange game, I can't recall a team coming back from 25 down to win by 6.  31 point differential.

Iona scored 17 points in half, to include one with like 10 seconds left after 55 in first.  Amazing.
