Too many people focused on Round 2 and (potentially) Murray State.  Since I'm not on the team,  I'm permitted to look ahead to the next game(s):

Murray State hasn't played anyone of significance

They beat St Marys and handled Memphis on their floor. Weak conference but they are a good team, it's not easy to go 30-1. I remember looking and IIRC there has only been 2 or 3 one loss teams the last 7 years.

I put together the breakdown below and thought it was interesting (sorry for the lack of formatting). Big East had the 2nd highest percentage of teams in the tourney, but only the 6th best average seed behind the B10, ACC, SEC, B12, and Ohio Valley (obviously deceiving since only 1 team). Not bad for a "down year" in the Big East.

For the record, I too think Detroit can give them a game. They've got a decent little team, Holman and McCallum are high-major talents.

Hubie saying Marquette is the biggest challenge for Mizzou and saying DJO and Jae are two of the best players in the tournament. Bilas noting our turnover problems, but also the matchup problems we present; concludes that we will have our heads screwed on straight for this tournament. Unsurprisingly Digger thinks Mizzou's only challenge is themselves.

Yeah, it's crazy. I actually had to double check a few teams to make sure I had them in the right conference. All this conference realignment is tough to keep up with.

I'm with you--it is so much more fun to talk about the reaction to your proposed bets--wait whatt did Bilas say abolut it--than to bet the game.  Bet the game or dont.  Offer still stand Erick with a K--Detroit to win straight up as you proposed......(this bet still stands regardless of what Bilas or Dickie V or whomever the F else you need moral support from).

Iona will reach the Round of 32: I don't agree with the Gaels' inclusion. Washington and Drexel had stronger arguments. But just because many don't believe they belong doesn't mean that they won't prove critics wrong. I think the Gaels, who own the No. 1 scoring offense in the country (83.3 ppg), are dangerous. To reach the third round in the West Region, the Gaels will have to get through BYU in Dayton and Marquette in Louisville. Mark it down. The Gaels are playing a pair of shaky defensive teams. They have three NBA-level talents in Scott Machado, Michael Glover and Lamont "Momo" Jones. As much I thought Iona didn't have a case for a slot in the field of 68, I think the Gaels can show doubters that they're worthy.
