I could see Buzz bringing in Coach Courtney from that Houston high school.  He has D1 assistant coach experience, solid ties to Houston prep prospects and coached both Otule and Durley.

Would that mean that Durley would have to spend the entire year on the bench?
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Bart Lundy would probably get promoted, then we'd offer some 3rd tier assistant for director of basketball operations.

Not sure why Buzz wants to do it this way.  Be better to lure a mid-high major assistant with experience recruiting at that level, imo.

Good point.  He has failed doing it the way he does.  Needs to change!

wow, clip this thread, change the names and run it again next March.

Assistants come and go and Buzz has a great eye for talent.  I hope he stays at Marq a long time.  If he is happy and he is sincere (and he seems to be both), he will stay because he says, "Don't mess with happy."  He won't find a more supportive community elsewhere.  He is not from MKE/ WI and I think he knows that.

Benford deserves a HC job. The mark of a good program is great assisitants who move up to HC jobs.

Having said all that can we PLEASE wait until April to have this discussion?  Can we just enjoy the ride this March and dance with the guys we got?????
"I went into a restaurant one night and ordered lobster, and the waiter brought me one with a claw missing. He told me that in the back there's a tank they keep the lobsters in and while they're in there, they fight and sometimes one loses a claw. I told him to bring me a winner."  Al McGuire

Go back 12 months... before the season was even over, Andy Katz was already speculating how "Buzz Williams will be the most sought after coach on the carousel this year" (paraphrasing) and even tossed out a couple teams who would be potential attractors.

Jump ahead to today... aside from fan board speculation, how many potential job openings are there for which the media has already pegged Buzz as a candidate?  Right there... that should tell you something.  Buzz has gone from 11-seed coaching candidate to the stars to 3-seed coach of a star.  Assistants will come and go, but I have a feeling the summer BBQ behind Raynor is going to be a campus mainstay for a loooooong time.  And if I'm wrong, so what... Buzz will leave us in better condition than he found us.

"Wisconsin-style BBQ has a certain ring to it.  It's not so much a sauce as it is getting sauced."

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.
