With Michigan State losing Branden Dawson (second-leading rebounder 4.5 and third-leading scorer 8.4) to an ACL tear, would the committee drop MSU from a 2 seed if they struggle at all in the Big Ten Tournament?

Could this get us to the 2 seed?

jesmu84

I'd say if OSU wins the Big Ten tourney, they probably get the 2.

TallTitan34

OSU and MSU are both already projected as 2's.

We won't jump MSU.  Could jump OSU if they have a poor showing in the B10 tourney and we do work in NYC.

What do you think UCONN has to do to guarentee themself a spot in the tourny? Win one game or 2? Or more?

If Uconn beats DePaul they are pretty much a lock. Winner of WVU/Uconn will be a guranteed lock.

Sucks OSU had to win. That was our shot at 2 seed.

Sad to hear that he is out. It didn't look good when it happened. He was someone that I really was hoping would choose MU. I hope that he has a full recovery.

I wonder if this will bump back MSU on seeding due to the injury. If they have a poor Big Ten Tourney showing, then it could be possible.

Let's just focus on what MU has to do.

If they do everything they need to do, then they'll be fine.

They could drop MSU.  The Selection Committee has done that in the past.  You have to prove how you will play without the player.  MU had it happen to them when they lost McNeal.

I still thin Missouri is the team MU could jump for a two spot. I realize they have some really good wins, but with the committee hammering home the point of "who you play and who you beat", every year, you have to wonder how Missou's SOS of 80 will play with the committee. I'd also like to know if any team has ever gotten a #2 seed with that poor of an SOS or with an RPI as low as #16. MU gets to Saturday night, win or lose and we all may be pleasantly surprised Sunday.

I want this quote to serve as a reminder to the vast majority of scoop posters in regards to the MU BB program.
