I hate to be a buzzkill, but here it goes. . . . .

Although Crowder deserves to be the Big East POY, him being the only unanimous choice to the First Team doesn't lock it up.
This can simply mean that all 15 other Big East coaches agree that Crowder is the 2nd - 6th best player in the conference.

In fact, this isn't the first time that a Marquette player was a unanimous First Team Big East. . . .
Steve Novak was unanimous in 2005-2006 along with Novas' Allen Ray and Randy Foye and Uconn's Rudy Gay
The other players selected to the Big East first team were: Mike Gansey and Kevin Pittsnogle of WVU, Eric Hicks of Cincy, Chris Quinn of Notre Dame, Aaron Gray of Pitt, Quincy Douby of Rutgers and Gerry McNamara of Syracuse (A 11 player All Conference team still strikes me as ridiculous)
Novak was clearly not one of the 4 best players in the conference that year. . .  but every coach agreed that he was without a doubt a top 11 player.

If Jae doesn't win, some will struggle with the only unanimous not being POY, I just wanted to point out that being a unanimous top-6 player is different then being selected the number 1 player.

Overall, I hope this is a moot point and Jae picks up his hardware.

It does help though that Kevin Jones wasn't an unanimous first rounder, so at least one coach (possibly more) feel that he isn't one of the top six players in the conference.

I think ur argument holds more water and potential with the old 11 man team than it does today

Selfishly I hope he doesn't win it... They will announce it tomorrow, if he doesn't win I expect him to be the first player ever to average 30 and 15 for the Big East Tournament and MU's first BEast championship belt.

This falls in line with the "a loss helps us re-focus" theory which I don't believe in, but I believe Jae will take it personal and make his legacy at the Garden.

The perfect scenario is that he wins the award and then there is some complaining in the press that Jones was robbed.  That way he gets the well-deserved award plus keeps his "I'll show them" motivation.

Not sure stuff like this matters to this team, but they did lay an egg against Cincinnati after all of the postive press following the game at West Virginia, so you never know.  Any edge you can get, I suppose.

Was just looking at that.  I enjoyed that in back to back years Charles Smith won, and it was 2 different guys.

Looking at that and past winners do not have high success in the NBA; not saying Crowder won't, just pointing it out.

A quarter or so of them aren't too shabby:

Patrick Ewing (x2), Chris Mullen (x3), Alonzo Mourning, Ray Allen, Rip Hamilion (x2), Caron Butler

I meant since Marquette joined.

Every player since MU joined, other than Hansbrough (it was a joke that he won) is currently in the NBA. There might not be a lot of NBA star power but those guys are having solid NBA careers. I'm about the same height and weight as Randy Foye. I'd happily take his career (and earnings) over mine  ;)

I'd be interested to see the list of guys who finished in the top 3 each year.

I thought Scottie Reynolds won a couple of years ago, and then went on to be the only BEast POY to not get drafted. Or, something like that, right?

He was a first team All-American but didn't get drafted.

Right. I know it was something odd. He also went on to lead Villanova's self-destruction with a loss in the opening round. (I hope I'd right on this one!)

Thanks.

Tomorrow before the night session games at the BET.

Jae is going to get it and well deserved.  In the bank

Great!  Hope its real.  And that means he'll likely get taken in the first round.

I really would love to see him go in round one, at 30 to be very specific.   ;D
