Jae and DJO.  Jae is only unanimous selection.  Per Muathletics twitter.

Ben H. from ND was only unanimous selection last year and he won the POY.  Looking good for Jae.

Great news!! Can't wait to see Jae with his trophy on Tuesday.

Overall, no big surprise in the All-Big East teams, I am just surprised not to see Otto Porter in the Freshman Team.

There are two paths to success in college hoops.

One is to keep snagging prep All-Americans, acquiring so many of them that your program can survive the one-and-dones and two-and-dones.

Another is to recruit and develop players who are just good enough to be excellent at the college level but not quite slam-dunk NBAers -- in other words, talented guys who will stay around for their senior seasons.

Even though they came from jucos and not preps, Jae and DJO are perfect examples of the latter. The Illinois teams of 2004-06 were another very good example; except for Deron Williams, who stayed three years, all played for four years in the program.

Again, this isn't professing that this is the "right" way to do it. I certainly wouldn't turn down Carmelo Anthony or Greg Oden or Anthony Davis. It's just saying there are more than one way to do it.

It's been a pleasure to watch Jae and DJO, that's for sure. This is a well-deserved honor for both.

They may not be NBA slam Dunkers as you say, but they are good enough to play in the league. Some may be role players and others could turn into solid contributors if given a shot.

Congrats to jae and duo!

Shame that the ballots were due Friday.  Any coach who failed to vote Jae as POY ought to ask for a 'recall'.  I suspect the BEast absolutely wants to push Jae and DJO during the upcoming NCAA.

All anyone has to do is watch the WVU tape.  Jae dominated Kevin.  No contest.

And I hope that Jimmy is talking Jae up with Bulls management right now.

Can anyone remember (or compile) the list of other MU players receiving all BE honors?  I feel like we've had a lot of second teamers.  This has got to be our first duo first team all big east.

Congrats to the boys!

Also congrats to whoever made that odd two-headed DJaeO Monster poster yesterday!

Awesome news, and well-deserved. Without a doubt the best senior duo in the nation, and within a month, possibly the best duo in the nation period.

AS much as I want Jae to grab POY as well, it is even more important that both were named First Team.  It would have been a shame to have either of them left off because of the vote being split or whatever.

Congratulations DJO and Jae, and way to leave no doubt yesterday!
The www.valueaddsports.com analysis of basketball, football and baseball players are intended to neither be too hot or too cold - hundreds immerse themselves in studies of stats not of interest to broader fan bases (too hot), while others still insist on pure observation (too cold).

I've definitely changed my mind from a few weeks ago when i said that Jones was a shoo in for POY, and would certainly vote for Jae today. But to not even put Jones on the first team (if its true he wasnt unanimous) - harsh.

real chili 83

Do either of these two have a shot at All American?

I think this is the full list:

Darius Johnson-Odom -- first team 11-12, second team 10-11.

Jae Crowder -- first team 11-12.

Dominic James -- first team 06-07, second team 07-08.

Jerel McNeal -- first team 08-09, second team 07-08, second team 06-07

Lazar Hayward -- second team 09-10, second team 07-08.

Steve Novak -- first team 05-06.

Wesley Matthews -- second team 08-09.

Kevin Jones is player of the week and finished with 20 double-doubles.

and his team is 9-9, still on the bubble for the NCAA and was TOTALLY DOMINATED one-on-one a week ago by Jae.

it's funny to look at the career arch of the big three like this.

I know, I'm just relaying, they went 2-0 this week and we were 1-1. I'd take Jae in a heartbeat!

I love the two, but no.  Based on statistics and team success, I'd say these duos are better:
Thomas Robinson and Tyshawn Taylor
Any 2 of Harrison Barnes/Tyler Zeller/John Henson

You could also make a case for:
Anthony Davis and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist
Marcus Denmon and Ricardo Ratcliffe
Jerad Sullinger and William Buford

MU82

Greg Anthony of CBS just named Jae the top senior in the nation. Seth Davis chose Draymond Green, another pretty fair player.

According to the WV fans, it would be a tragedy if Jones doesnt win POY.  They're claiming that the only reason he wasn't a unanimous selection is because the BE is holding a grudge against WV for leaving.  I think they're still too upset about Buzz's dance to recall that Crowder dominated Jones during the game.

That's why I said within a month. If they somehow manage to cut down the nets in New Orleans, they trump everyone on that list, especially because this is about their proficiency as college players, not future potential.

Norm

Thomas Robinson is not a Senior, even though he is leaving Kansas after this season.

Congratulations Jae and DJO!!!  Thank you for playing your hearts out this year!  Thank you for the leadership and playing to win!  You both deserved to be all Big East and you deserve more honors!  We look forward to your play in the tournaments!

According to WVU post game article . . . "Kevin Jones is player of the year," Williams said bluntly when asked about it, no two-stepping around the subject."

They can think that, but I do not believe Buzz would say that and not vote for him.
