and I love it.

A few good tidbits:

That tape needs to be sent to the conf. Those guys should never be allowed on the floor again. The refs were an absolute embarrassment

LOL....Marquette shot 20 more free-throws than us and people are trying to claim that had no merit on this game?...hilarious

With the reffing I am so much concerned about losing the game thorughthis nonsense as much as the danger to the players and the potetnial for a riot. That hit on Bowen at the end was flagrant and intentional and to not call it is to invite mayhem.

Just finished watching the game. Damn, I've never seen so many fouls called when guys arms were straight up.

And On Crowder: Exactly. He's like Jeff Green with no class or pride.

GGGG

He was right about the hit on Bowen...not that it would have caused a riot, but that it should have been called.  But overall it was about a quick, aggressive team attacking the basket.

Funny, no talk of the elbow to Crowder's stomach on that "and one" play.  I will agree with the G'Town posters that the refs were not good.  A lot of bad calls then make up calls.  Too many fouls called when they could have let it go.

mugrad2006

That's what I'm thinking as well.  The officiating was bad in my mind for the most part because it was so inconsistent.  It seemed to me that the game was called loose or tight based on where the ball was on the floor.  Driving to the lane from the 3 pt line, and you get the call on little contact.  Get the ball into the post and get mugged, and the refs let the play.  It seemed like it frustrated both teams a lot.

JoBo2756

Agreed. Was at the game and both my cousin and I remarked about all the fouls and the inconsistency. See one guy get totally mugged and no call, then a slight nudge two seconds later and the refs make the call to compensate for the said mugging they missed.

Norm

What are they talking about? What "intentional" foul against Bowen?

MU82

At least a dozen of the FTs for MU came at the end, when GTown was fouling on purpose to send our guys to the line. Plus, anybody who watched the game knows we were taking the ball hard to the hoop and GTown wasn't for most of the game. Thankfully, our lads realized we could get into the lane against them at will and stopped chucking up 3s.

Blaming the refs is a loser's lament. I never do it when Marquette loses. It changes nothing and it makes one sound like a clueless whiner.

You can blame the refs when you lose by a couple and play an otherwise good game. G'Town was not in this game for one minute, missed about 30 open looks and made countless turnovers and bad decisions. If every play in the game gets reviewed they still lose by at least ten so they really can have no beef with the refs.

real chili 83

We did get to the ft line often.....but that's not a new story for this team.

injuryBug

how about the block on DG?  He was sitting on the block waiting for the guy to attack the rim.  Then the weak T that gave them some hope.

It would not have mattered too much cause they were not making FT's anyway.

Even then, it's a loser's lament. So you play a good game and you lose by 2 "because" the ref blew a call at the end. Of course, if you think about it, you probably also missed 8 free throws, had 4 stupid/lazy turnovers, screwed up a couple of inbounds plays and forgot to block out 5 times. Do any of those things even a little better, and the game isn't the refs' to "lose." A team needs to control what it can -- its own play. I know it's asking too much of fans to be so pragmatic, though. I sometimes get mad at the refs during games, too, but I don't blame them for losses.

The T against Milly was perfectly warranted, and he appeared to expect it.

I am surprised the refs let it get so chippy in the last 60 seconds.  I thought the 2 handed shove on Crowder could have been a flagrant, and there was a lot of contact at the end that would have drawn a whistle early.

I don't know about expecting it.  I just watched it (the game replay is on TWC).  He dunked it, pulled himself up and spun a bit.  As far as "hanging" goes, I thought it was very mild, but what got him was the pull up.

I personally don't think it should be called unless it's clearly showboating.

When I say expecting it, I mean Wilson didn't even flinch when they called it. Usually guys will spin around, throw up their hands, etc.  He was just smiling running down the court.  It seems to be an area they may be focusing on recently as I have seen a couple other players in other games get called for that same T.  And I would agree it was mild, and likely the chin up that got him.

Man, Crowder gets crushed for the throat slashing gesture (apparently one incident (unless I missed another) qualifies as a "habit").  I know I'm biased, but I've never thought of him as being anything less than classy.

Some of their fans (tended to be the one's with well thought out responses, vs the GUY WHO kept flipping BETWEEN ALL CAPS in his rants) were very complimentary... one even referred to DJO and Jae as the "Wade-Lebron 1-2 punch of the Big East".

I for one am glad that people don't like or are scared/dislike our players -- it means we are good.

When we were always the feel good story it felt a little bit like everyone was cheering for the last guy picked.

buzz calls a time out.  Driscoll gives the hand gesture to signify it. Driscoll forgets to blow whistle.  Buff said.

From world until end, the free agent contractor officials are forever guilty of lack of consistency.  Wait to the BET when the crews blow their whistle every 20 seconds.  GU walked every time down the court yesterday between Clark and Simms.  Dreadful

An Illinois State player got called for doing the exact same thing in today's MVC title game against Creighton.

Back in the day, I did the same thing. Never called.

Heres the link to the post game article in the Post.  Some of the commentors mention the refs....some do give credit to MU for being the better team yesterday.

Was Jim Burr reffing? I wasn't able to catch the game but from what everything above is saying, it sounds like his type of game calling.

I agree with them. Horrible calls. Refs dictated the game. But...

Scoreboard. :)
