Clam Crowder

Just saw we reached 19,087 for today's game. First time in the last two years? more?

On the postgame, said it was the 3rd largest ever.  Nice crowd today.  Not just the paid, but nary an empty seat to be found.  Good crowd and energy.  Liked the chant to start the game by the Student Section.  Most stayed for the Senior Day festivities.  All in all, very nice end to the home slate!

chapman

First time since 02-03 we only lost one game at home.  And thought I heard since 01-02 that we didn't lose a conference game at home.  I like that, cause I hate home losses.

connie

Students brought it today.  Big props.  Made the game even more exciting.  Sometimes you have to wonder if they understand the impact they can have on the building.

When did MU start playing in the BC? Is it significant that all of these sell-out crowds have been in the Big East era?

As explained in this thread, this year's decline in attendence can be explained by having No Wisconsin game at home.

We had lost our 4 most attended games prior to today?  >:(

Glad we undid that curse as well as Buzz's Senior Day curse today.

NOT TRY TO TURN THIS INTO A CREAN v. BUZZ thread, but it's interesting that some here talk about Tom and "promoting the record crowds" but the top 3 attended games (and 5 of the top 6) have been in the Buzz era.

Not one word from Buzz 'bout it either. Little more discreet in his self promotion, aina? Refreshing

Season-ticket sales went down by almost 1,000. Due in part that the price went up.

I remember that double header against Pitt.  Epic games and turnout.  Would have been better if those four assh*oles hadnt left after the first game.

We played a doubleheader vs Pitt?

Um, we played at Wisconsin in December of 2011, and won.  Where is this craptastic list from?

Fact or conjecture?  That would surprise me.

I've always thought you could estimate the STH number by watching the lowest weekday cupcake game, where there are likely near zero walk-up sales.

Lowest attendance:
2011-12,765
2010-13,505
2009-13,511
2008-12,966
2007-12,992

Looks like from those guesses, 2011 did see a 700 drop in STHs.  I did not know that.  I remember talking to the ticket manager .. he said STH counts were highly correlated to last year's performance .. coming off a S16, you'd think MU would have at least stayed constant.    Amazing that 700 (or 350) accounts decided, bah, not worth it.

..which is silly when you can get one of those $125 plans for all the games .. just to keep your points going.

maybe it's a all-time state of wisconsin attendance list which would include an odd game played in the people's republic.

This season 8,805 and 3,670 (Student)=12,475 season-tickets.

Many donation level seats went up by $125 per seat. Many old timers said forget it!

Mr. Nielsen

I think Marquette needs to get some deals going for upper level seats during the week, when they plays schools like USF, Rutgers & Seton Hall.

Marquette does draw very well in the 10th biggest building in college basketball, but there is always room to grow!

I believe the all-time attendance list above is now corrected.  I typed it in from the media guide from the last few years.

http://issuu.com/marquettesid/docs/mubb_guide_2011-12 (guide page 17)

Let me know if anything else looks wrong.

After the corrections Saturday's game remains the third highest attended game all-time and the largest ever crowd to see a win.

Tugg Speedman

The 13 most attended games breaks down this way

3 Pittsburgh
3 Georgetown
2 Syracuse
2 Depaul
2 Wisconsin
1 Uconn

5 of the top 13 games are Pitsburgh and Syracuse.  They are leaving the BE.  Will this hurt our ablity to get crowds over 19,000?  Other than Georgetown, do we have to wait for Depaul to get interesting to see more crowds over 19,000?  Will Louisville, Cincy, or ND ever get a crowd over 19,000 (they have not so far)?

This list right here shows why the attendance is down a little this year.

Of this list we only played Gergetown and Pittsburgh at home.  georgetwon was the highest attended win in program history, so that more than carried its weight.  Pisttsburgh entered the game with no conference wins amid a trainwreck season.  nevertheless there were the only two games from this list.  Additonaly, while not on the list Notre Dame is always a very big drawtoo, and we did not get them at home either.
Bottom line the people that want to talk about bad support and crowds etc, need only look at these couple facts and way our attendance was down a few hundred people on avergae.  In fact one could probably quite easily make the reach that given the season we are having if we had Uconn, Wisky, Syracuse, etc. at home that the numbers would be huge!
