than game time suspension.  Suicides come to mind.  We can all agree that the suspended players broke arbitrary team rules.  Therefore punishment is arbitrary also.  Buzz has a commitment to the players but also to the school and the fans.  When deciding punishment the effect on all these groups should be taken into account.

It sends a message.  It's about the team first.  We don't want guys breaking rules no matter the severity...especially after past events.  Hopefully they learn from it this time around.  That's a big hopefully.

Warriors4ever

Presumably the team knows the potential punishments for rule-breaking.  And Buzz doesn't "owe" it to the school or the fans to go back on those.  Also, one presumes that the AD signed off on the suspensions as well, so the school evidently agreed.

I don't think I could have enough zero's to add after my +1 on this comment.

This thread epitomizes whats wrong with college sports. College sports is about student-athletes, not alumni that could care less about the students. If you want it to all be about sport, watch the NBA.

I DON'T CARE IF HE DID SOMETHING WRONG, HOW CAN BUZZ TAKE AWAY MY CHANCE TO WATCH US WIN!!!

Just making fun of denverMU who doesn't care about educating the players and only cares about a precious game. There are too many fans who think this is professional sports and that actually think they are owed something.

robmufan

If we had a larger roster, im not sure he would have suspended them for the whole game!

I don't mind what buzz did, i just hope the team keeps on the repeat offenders as there are some large games with a big possibility of distractions ahead!

MUFC9295

Great explanation during the post-game of Buzz's and what he hopes are the teams shared convictions.

Rocky Mountain high.

I never said we need to win at all costs.  Obviously none of us know what the rule is that was broken or if punishment is predetermined.  I had 2 points, game suspensions are not the only form of punishment and I think all stakeholders should be taken into account.  BTW obviously punishments are changed due to the situation, earlier in the year breaking team rules cost a player full game suspensions now half game.

Missed that one.  Not the first, nor the last.   ;)

You do not know me.  You do not know what I think about educating anyone.  In fact, instead of making unfounded, wild ass allegations, maybe you could check some of my prior posts.  You will find I have often stuck up for our players, coach and team when the loons on this board go nuts if we lose.  Instead you fulfill your part as a MUScoop loon who overreacts instead of trying to have a normal conversation regarding differring viewpoints.

Maybe I overreacted but you also said Buzz OWES it to the fans. I don't think the fans nor the impact on the game should be considered when making a punishment. I'm sorry for the attack but you are suggesting that fans are more important than what Buzz considers the preferred punishment.

Buzz's postgame interview was a great example of a coach recruiting future players' mothers.

I could almost hear some moms saying, "I want my baby boy to play for a coach who loves his players that much and cares about how they turn out in life more than just one game."

Brilliant ... even if Buzz wasn't thinking that at all.

No problem.  I don't believe I used the word "owed" but I can see how you may have inferred that.  I do not think fans are more important nor winning all the time.  Having said that, at a school like MU, where the revenue from the basketball program provides the funding for all the other sports, winning and losing matters.

All three parties are a winner when a situation is handled like this.  There's no "other" punishment that comes close to missed playing time.

Warriors4ever

'Owe' was my word, not the OP's, but it was how I read his post.  I don't believe Buzz has to take the fans into account at all when deciding on punishments.

BCHoopster

It is nice to win a game like that, to bad the 4 knuckleheads after 28 games have to grow up some.  Good for buzz, but is this group besides
the winning have strong moral character, way to many issues.
