Honestly, one of the top five all-around individual performances since the Wade triple-double v. Kentucky.  He was absolutely incredible today.  As impressive as his stats were, he did a ton of stuff that didn't show up in the boxscore.

He was cold blooded everytime MU needed a basket.  When UCONN made runs, Jae would be the answer with a 3.  Unbelievable game by him.  Take away the TO's DJO had in the 2nd half, and the two seniors put on a 1-2 combination that I have not seen by a MU team.

godzilla

I can't recall a better game from Crowder and he was light years better than DJO in the second half, who spent most of his time making bonehead decisions and turning the ball over.

As I watched him today, I wondered who the Juco POY contenders are this year because Jae's a stud.

I looked up the previous Juco POYs and Jae's special because the rest are scrubs:

07-08 Jeremie Simmons, 2 seasons Ohio State, 17.4 mpg, 5.8 ppg
08-09 Rafis Nicks, 2 seasons Missouri State, 24.4 mpg, 8.4 ppg, 4 rpg, 3 apg
09-10 Jae Crowder, 2 seasons Marquette, 29.3 mpg, 13.6 ppg, 7 rpg, 2 apg
10-11 Kiel Turpin, Florida State, no stats (Son of Mel Turpin)
SS Marquette

As Sultan said, he did a ton of stuff that doesn't show up in the box score. It seems like every time there is a loose ball, Jae is there fighting for it. Even if he doesn't come up with it, he's keeping it alive for another MU guy to get it.

He made EVERY play at both ends of the court and consistently outbattled and outhustled  players several inches taller than he was. Tremendous performance.

stop. the guy had 2 turnovers. and he scored 24 pts.

UConn clearly geared their defense to stop DJO in the second half.  They were tailing him all over the court.  MU made adjustments and responded.

WTF is wrong with you? Seriously, are you even a Marquette fan? DJO had as many assists as he did turnovers, and scored more points than anyone in a UConn uniform did. He had a great game. Granted, Crowder was better today, but that was the best game Jae has ever played in a Marquette uniform. Quit being such a moronic hater. It's petty and pathetic.

Jae's D was even more impressive to me . the way he moves his feet on defense will win him a job in the Bigs with 12 NBA SCOUTS in attendance. He can guard 2 thru 5 and still score!

Great peformance, which sparks a new thread possibly, what are the top 5 Marquette single player performances after Wade?

I nominate Novak's 41 point game against UConn.

NotAnAlum

Jae was superb.  Teams make runs in March because their stars take it to another level.  Jae looks like he is ready to make that move and DJO isn't far behind.

muwarrior97

Beast mode, huge all game and broke UCONN's teeny heart several times......SOTG no poll/vote needed

I second that.  I still get shivers.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

See, that is why I said top five.  I knew I'd forget an obvious one!

I believe Novak also had 16 rebounds in that 41-point game against UConn. I think it was our first-ever Big East game at the BC.

It was.  And UConn was ranked second or there abouts.

Jae had 29 against WVU at the BC in his first BE game.  That was not too shabby either.

You are right on Sultan.  Best all around performance  I  have seen  in a long time!!  I  gotta believe some NBA  scout  just put Jae  on his radar. All that  " high priced"  McDonald  talent on Connecticut certainly got outhustled  today.  Kudos to Buzz  and the whole team  also!!!

Yes, they came to watch Drummond and came away with Crowder and DJO.  Both probably raised their stock today.

Both of them will be sorely missed next year and some guys will really have to come up big to fill their shoes.

Just an excellent performance by both, and were they fired up or what when they were taken out at the end of the game.  Just whaling it with Buzz.

tower912

Let me toss in Dominic James performance against Valparaiso.    Last 19 pts plus the game winner, IIRC.

Not too many stats to put to it, but Jimmy Butler's defensive performance against Tu Holloway was one of the best MU performances I've seen in quite some time.

Doris Burkes Thong

Actually Dave Pasch tweeted before the game that 12 NBA scouts were there to watch Drummond, Lamb, Crowder, and DJO. Crowder helped himself tremendously today and DJO did as well in the first half.   https://mobile.twitter.com/davepasch

Good call.  JFB shut down several big time players last year.  Unfortunately, those stellar performances/stats don't get recognized the same as offensive output.
