In all seriousness, hope the kids that are hurt continue to rehabilitate.

Freshman forward Ryan Thornton has decided to transfer from UW-Milwaukee.

An attempt to reach Ryan through his father, Jim Thornton, Monday afternoon was unsuccessful.

Thornton, a 6-foot-7 freshman, appeared in 27 games in the 2006-'07 season. Heralded as a sharpshooter upon arrival, Thornton finished fifth on the team in three-point goals (20) and scored a season-high 13 points in 10 minutes in a Nov. 29 loss at Central Michigan.

A native of Chillicothe, Ill., Thornton led Illinois Valley Central to a runner-up finish in the 2006 Illinois Class A tournament. He committed to UWM in the spring of 2006.

UWM had one too many scholarship commitments for the 2007-'08 season. Thornton's departure leaves UWM at the maximum 13 scholarships for next season.

Also, three walk-on players, Michael Bendall, Myles McKay and Jason Deutchman, have decided to leave the Panthers as well.

Bendall, a 6-7 junior forward, was a valuable contributor off the bench for UWM in 2005-'06 as it reached the second round of the NCAA tournament. However, the former Oconomowoc standout was sidelined for much of last season and eventually had surgery to repair an injured knee.

McKay, who played at Menomonee Falls, is a 6-3 sophomore who appeared in seven games last season. McKay will now attend UW-Whitewater.

Deutchman, a 6-6 freshman guard, graduated from high school in 2005 but had been sidelined by various injuries of the last two years. He will be returnining to his native Santa Monica, Calif., to be near doctors and family and he continues to rehabilitate.

Funny how UWM offered one over the scholarship limit (just as MU) and we've heard nothing about it from Badgers fans.

That's because Badger fans don't feel threatened by UW-Milwaukee...
