Basically is going to finish 2nd. They obviously have the head-to-head over us and their schedule is pretty easy the rest of the way. I don't see them losing more than one game to be quite frank. I thought WVU would give them a loss and they won that on the road tonight.

Norm

Difference could come down to them getting Syracuse and us at home while we had to go play at Syracuse and at ND. But they have a good string of wins going.

PGsHeroes32

I guess a postive is a WVU loss knocks one team back from us in our double bye fight. I really just want a top 4 finish.

Then lets take it to em in the garden!!!!!

Not in the tourney.

Beat me to it.

ND will make the BE look bad in the round of 32.

Blackhat

They've been slowing it down this year more.   Can be very effective as we've seen with the Badgers and Buzz had a stretch of slower tempo in his first year that was pretty effective.

A hot shooting team (aka, a good tourney team) will crush ND.

Have you been watching the same team?

Yes? I'm speaking in regards to ND's deathly slow pace. A team that gets hot early will force ND out of their game and, subsequently, to try and play faster. They aren't built for that. They are guarding the three ridiculously well, but all it takes is one team. And, yes, any team that gets hot in the Tournament is tough to beat, but tougher for slow-paced teams who don't have a go-to guy, either.

this ND team reminds me of team when Mo, Cubie, and Zar were seniors.  They play at a deliberate pace with a drive and kick type of offense.  Brey is a good coach but given the talent level on their team, just like the MU team that year, there is little margin for error.  I agree that a talented team in the tourney that  gets hot will finish them off pretty easily.

MUDPT

Pomeroy has Georgetown, ND and MU all tied for 2nd at 13-5.  That would move MU to the 4 seed, based off of the mini-conference based on the three teams.
Georgetown has 4 losses, most likely losses left (at Marquette, at Seton Hall, 2/21)
Notre Dame has 3 losses, most likely losses left (at Georgetown, at Villanova, home to West Virginia)

Louisville and Cincy would finish at 11-7.

It's interesting about ND.  There was an article on Basketball Prospectus that had them OUT of the NCAA tournament based on the premise of adding Pomeroy to RPI.  It got 66 out of 68 last year.  Based off of that, ND would be out, as well as Cincy. ND's RPI is 56. Cincy is 97 right now.

And will crush us, ala ND Saturday.

A team that is hot is generally going to win. I think slow down teams lose when their own offense disappears. We all have seen how bad MU can look when they go into scoring draughts.

Hats off to Brey and the Domers.  Watching last night's game reminded me of my experience at the Joyce on Saturday in terms of play style.  West Virginia really needed that game and took three shots straight to the heart in the final 2 minutes.  Their tourney hopes are not looking to good at the moment based on their schedule.  I agree with the earlier assessment that ND might very well slip into the #2 seed for the BEast tourney.

Oh, and one more thing . . . Pitt's dream of coming all the way back to make the NCAA ended in Tampa last night.  Put a fork in them.  NIT time, but only if they play well.

We really want a top 3 finish.  L'Ville will probably finish 5th, so if we finish 4th that means we probably get L'ville on Thursday and then Syracuse on Friday.   Also, don't want to play L'Ville again, they are hot right now and we are lucky Kuric was out when we played them.  I actually think L'Ville will beat Syracuse on Monday.

If we finsih 2nd or 3rd through, its an easier path and we dont see Syracuse to the championship, if we both make it that far.

I may have a short memory for where we have finished the regular season since we joined the Big East, but it seems that every year I/we would kill for a top four finish and get any bye. As has been said many times before about MU basketball, I intend to enjoy the ride, because this team, even without DG, are very good and fun to watch.
